Laurent was the first to speak, breaking the strangle-hold of shock gripping him, while also quietly basking in the joy of unexpectedly seeing Larry again, standing in front of him. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Sandoval."
It was at that moment when it became crystal clear to Laurent that the emotions he'd been feeling for Larry the past few days ran deeper than the brief encounter they'd shared together the night they met, now three days ago. He'd missed Larry, truly missed him, and no one was more shocked by that than him. Even mentally admitting this shook him. He'd never experienced this before, actually hoping he'd once again see one of his sexual encounters. But he couldn't ignore how much thoughts of Larry, the time they'd spent together that night had occupied his thoughts. Even more shocking to him was how much the thought of never seeing Larry again had bothered him ever since he'd watched him walk out of his life that night.
"It's nice to meet you, too, Mr...?"
"Bourgeois. Laurent, Bourgeois."
"Mr. Bourgeois, it's nice to meet you too. But please, call me Larry. Mr. Sandoval is my husband," Larry said, briefly looking towards his husband, before his eyes returned to look at Laurent.
Laurent swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat. By contrast, this now presented quite a dilemma for him. Intermixed with the shock...and joy of seeing Larry again, he couldn't deny the equally heady rush of suspicion that now came over him. The stakes had risen considerably. Was Larry as crooked as his husband was alleged to be? Could he have been so wrong about him? Could the tears and innocence Larry had shown the night they met been all an act, or maybe just the results of a temporary rough patch between he and his husband? If so, how deep was Larry's involvement in all of this?
But then again, he just couldn't buy that Larry's tears, the sadness he'd seen in his eyes had been an act. He just couldn't wrap his brain around that. And yet, his training dictated that he should never judge a book by its cover. Larry may look innocent, but until he could get to the bottom of things, the million dollar question was, is he?
Laurent glanced at Larry, and was as captivated now as he was the first time he'd laid eyes on him. How was he going to separate the demands of his head from the growing hold Larry was starting to have on his heart? He couldn't help feeling like he was suddenly between a rock and a hard place, something for which he hadn't prepared. He was more determined than ever to get to the bottom of the Sandoval saga; something he needed to do now as much for himself as for the mission, and the sooner the better.
Larry was by far no less effected by seeing Laurent. He felt light-headed by the very sight of Laurent. He'd thought, with mounting dread, that he'd never see him again. In the few days since they'd parted, Laurent had dominated his thoughts and dreams, and now, here he stood. He couldn't believe it. It was as if he'd manifested his very presence just from his very longing, hoping he'd one day see him again.
My god, the man was as drop-dead gorgeous and as sexy now as when he'd first laid eyes on him, Larry observed. Even sexier, now that he knew what was under that suit he was wearing the hell out of...and by what he knew that body was capable of doing to him.
Larry felt foolish, this pretense, this unexpected game he found he now had to play when what he desperately wanted to do was throw himself into Laurent's arms and smother him with kisses and so much more. Quickly changing his thought process, before he did just that, "Can I get you anything, Mr. Bourgeois?"
"Thanks, no. Your maid, Sofia I believe is her name, brought coffee."
"Oh." Larry chuckled nervously. It was then that he noticed the small coffee pot sitting on the coffee table. "I see. Okay. Good. Well, I...I'll leave you two to your—"
