Read chapter 69 for a refresher!
Persephone
"Kore! What is the meaning of this?!" Minos, one of the three judges seethed.
"Shut the FUCK up!" I didn't care how improper I sounded. The three judges were clearly on Eris's side and would do everything in their power to keep me from Aides. Quite frankly, I was tired of it.
"Arrest her! Arrest her! She conspired to kill Aides and now this! She is banished from the underworld by order of the king!!" The three judges jumped with anger, summoning the guards.
"You all see the memories! LOOK! It is playing in the cauldron right now? I am innocent!" The cauldron continues to replay all the memories. It showed my arrival in the underworld. The sword of Elysium. Eris's plan to kill Aides. Her transformation into me.
Aides only watched the images quietly; hopefully, it was the clarity entering his mind that made him mute.
"Aides!" I shouted as the guards dragged me by my waist. The three judges smirked in the distance as my day of reckoning finally came.
"Aides!! Please!" I whisper, watching him as he stood motionless. He was paralyzed in shock as he continued to watch the cauldron.
"Please..." I whisper again. He stood down from the steps walking over to me. "Aides... I am so sorry. I refused to use the sword on you. I love you!"
Aides scans me from a distance before examining the two guards who held me.
"Let her go." Aides voice booms through the sanctuary. The guards hesitated, looking at the three judges instead. "NOW!" The guards immediately released my shoulders.
My steps were uncertain, doubtful but his were confident. With each step he took, my heart rushed. There was a change in his eyes. I could see it.
"I didn't kill you or even try to Aides. I hated you at first but I never took that sword." My words start to burst. I could only explain to him my reasoning. "I love you Aides" He nodded his head, hanging on my every word.
I thought he would say something, acknowledging my feelings but he only pulled my jaw into his palms. His dark piercing eyes raced against every feature of my profile. He was assessing my heart, my character, cherishing them in admiration.
"It wasn't me.
Please forgive me Aideoneus. I love you."I couldn't even finish my statement before he pulls my lips into his and kissed me, hungry for my breaths.
"I never stopped loving you Kore" he whispered, staring into my eyes. We kissed, this time more deeper. We were careless; hungry to embrace again.
I was no longer his distant, forgotten lover that betrayed him.
We were loyal confidants.
Friends. The hesitancy that once plagued his soul dissipated at that very moment.
"You believe me. You really do?" I whisper, staring into his eyes. He grabbed my palm, pushing it against his mouth and places soft kisses against it.
"I believe you Kore. I'm sorry I ever doubted you my love" he says breathlessly.
As we relished in each other's company, the three judges couldn't help but interrupt.
"Aides! You made a declaration to the public! If Kore were to step foot again in this sacred sanctuary! She would be put to death!"
He released me, rolling his eyes as the judges shouted.
