Three days had passed since Hera had come to the underworld.

But did she not have a throne on Mt. Olympus to take care of? She had been so annoying since her visit to the palace, seizing all the free time Aides had to spend with me.

Aides and I had been adjusting well to each other since the passing of my Dokimi. Millions came to our throne room to pay homage to the loving rulers of the underworld but I always saw past their false intentions; they wanted nothing more than Aides promise of traveling mercies to the after life.

"Another skull? How original" I muttered to myself but smiled at the traveler who had brought it. Aides lips parted into a tight smile as he heard my complaint. "We grant your request to the underworld and peaceful traveling mercies" he nodded.

"Thank you you majesty" the man bowed and ran away before he could change his mind.

"Do people honestly think sunken skulls and decayed bones make a good gift?" I asked Aides truthfully. He shrugged, observing the black skull that he took from my hand. He was used to the people's half hearted gifts.

We only had one more visitor to greet before we could break for dinner. He granted the woman traveling mercies again and helped me stand to start our journey to the dinning room. We were warming up to each other over the past couple of weeks, usually sharing light conversation here and there. I couldn't help but admit how foolish I was to be fearful of him. He was growing on me day by day.

I lifted an eyebrow as I observed the empty room. "Oh? Will no one else will be joining us for dinner"

"Not tonight. It will just be you and I" he spoke and pulled out my chair. I took my place as he helped push me in. I made sure to conceal the smile that painted my lips.

This was perfect!

We would have more time to spend together and converse. Just as he sat at the head of the table, Hera stormed in and smiled at us, pleased she had interrupted our private dinner.

"Hera" he sighed; I could tell even he was annoyed buy her intrusive nature.

"I hope I have not interrupted something important" she sat and poured herself a glass of wine.

"Not at all" I muttered with annoyance. She smiled innocently and stared at Aides, looking longingly in his eyes. Although she was married to the most powerful god....it seemed as if she had eyes for my husband....

"So when will you be ending your visit to our realm" I asked bluntly.

"Kore! I thought--"

"Persephone" I quickly corrected her, refusing to address me by my title once again.

"Well...I was going to leave tonight but someone insisted I stay"

"Who?" Aides frowned, inspecting her face for an answer. Just as I was about to speak, Zeus pushed open the doors, strolling in with his eyes razor focused on me. Hera grinned pridefully and sat up her chair.

Why was he here? The other deities rarely visited the underworld? It was bleak and gray according to them. It was odd both of them decided to visit with our realm with no reason....

"Brother" Aides nodded his head to address him. He ignored him and only focused on me. "Kore" he muttered his greeting.

"I no longer go by that weak title. Surely you have heard?"

"No the underworld is quite far in current events" he shrugged.
