Fifty-Nine

Persephone

Imagine my surprise as I saw the great and powerful Zeus waiting for me in the outskirts of our small city.
"Finally!" Zeus shouted as he saw me approach. The sun was just setting against the horizon.

"You remember our agreement?" He was blunt with his intentions. That was the only reason he was helping me. I was shocked he had actually kept his word to meet me.

"It seems I have forgotten" I pouted, forcing my arms above my chest.

He smiled before dropping his head. "Six months of rebuilding the earth. You fix the mess your mother created"

"Oh! Yes, the other woman who keeps your bed warm! I remember now" I shrugged.

"And the explanation for your...conception?" He clarifies.

"I know, I know. Hera must never know" I rolled my eyes impatiently. He observed me carefully before nodding and passing me a small vial of potion to consume.

"Drink this" he looked into my eyes with mischief. I didn't like it.

"What is it?" Girls the clear glass up to the sky. Bright ribbons of red and pink swirled carelessly.

"Would you just drink it." He snapped, pulling out a few thunderbolts from his case. I knew a potion or posion could not kill a full blooded diety so I was not scared to die. I was only curious of Zeus's intentions.

"You don't trust me daughter?" He smirked patting my cheek. Hastily, I hit him off, tilting my head back and drinking every last bit of it.

I tossed the empty vial into the air, letting him catch it.
Hmmm
That was strange. I didn't feel any different?

"Come on." He lifted a thunderbolt and struck it on the floor twice before a portal to the underworld open. It looked similar to the opening when I first pricked my finger on the flower.

He led me inside, into the darkness and soon the light of earth dimmed behind me.

"Just a bit further down" Zeus grumbled. He lit another torch of thunder and led me further. My breaths began to falter the deeper I stepped.

I started to feel a little dizzy.

"What was in...that potion you gave me..." I struggled to form my sentences.

"Nothing much. A little essence of pear. Some psychedelic elements. Oh! And Yuisn" He bragged, illuminating my face with his bolt of thunder.

"You bit*ch" I cursed. I knew my mother had warned  me of the vital potion of Yuisn, but I could not remember why?

My feet buckled from the weight of my fragility. I leaned against the wall to balance my fall.

"That's no way to talk to your father!" he chuckled catching my waist before I hit the floor.

"You...poto..." my thoughts were incoherent to form sentences.

"Shh...shhh" he slipped a finger beneath my chin, "I will take gooe care of you" he promised.
His wicked smile was the last thing I saw before darkness came over me.
