Sixty-One

Eris

We have come into a room with Eris and Hera. Hera made a quick trip to the realm to visit Eris as she prepares for her wedding to Aides.

"I'm going to go. I heard Zeus was arriving at the realm later today" Hera sighed, lifting her head from her resting spot near my pillows. I stood from the edge of my bed, ruffling my hair to fix my appearance.

"On what business?" She paused, looking to the floor before standing up.

"I am not sure" she mumbled.

"Hera! You are the ruler of Olympus and he tells you nothing! You are nothing to him" I knew my words stung but she needed to face her dismal reality. Hera assumed people had no respect for Zeus due to his conniving ways but the people really held no reverence for her. They thought her docile for staying with a man who showed her nothing but discourtesy.

"I have discussed this with him many times" she tries to build her failing case.

"You are as much a goddess as him. Why don't you act like it, friend?" I was tired of her willingness to be disrespected. It made it easier for others to disrespect her....maybe that is why I slept with him so much.

She looked away but continued her trek out the room. "Whatever. I have to go" she whispers, grabbing a few of her items.

"Will you be at my crowning ceremony?" I knew she was upset due to my words, but she knew better than to not show her face.

"I might... but you have been very irate" Her hand lingers on my door handle.

"I am just nervous Hera. You know everything must go perfect" I walk to face her and grabbed her palms. "Please come. You are truly the only person I like" I admitted, forcing a lazy smile to my lips.

Her head titled with mischief as she let her smile show. "Eris? Are you are saying I am your only friend?"

I push her away before fixing my appearance in the mirror again. "Go away before I rescind my invitation"

"Fine... fine" she nods and giggles before leaving me alone to return to Olympus.

Kore

"Where is Adies?" I walk through the opening of the Underworld, chewing on my lower lip. I walk even faster, trying to quicken my association with Zeus. The quicker I found Aides, the faster I could escape.

"Why are you so excited WIFE" Zeus pulls me into his arms as we walk down the path. He was reminding me to keep my composure, especially since I was disguised as Hera. There were servants and townspeople around us. "Be patient. We will see him soon"

We continue down the town before coming through the gates of the palace. The realm looked a little more packed than usual. I suppose there were more visitors and vendors preparing for the upcoming nupitals and ceremony.

Just as we turn down the path of the foyers, I see Aides emerging from a room with a group of men. The three judges along with a few faces I did not recognize gathered around his heel.

He is not as frail as I thought he would look. He looked disordered yet his assured. A thick beard of brown caressed his jawline making his features shine even more. He wears a dark black cloak with his silver crown on bold display.

It wasn't his appearance that took me by surprise but his presence--it was was so sharp...so invasive. All eyes clasped to his the moment he entered the room.
