Zeus decided against telling Demeter of Hera's threats and simply kept his distance. Meetings passed and conferences were held and each time, her presence would pull my entire attention and fade everything else away; but alas, he refused to be pulled back to the peace in her arms, to be tempted by those fiery golden eyes.
How rare it was for Zeus to be unsettled. He knew his thirst for her would never be satiated. Jealousy cloaked his heart at the sight of her company and he would curse the seconds he would go without seeing his love. Zeus would love no other like Demeter, not even Hera.

"Zeus! Zeus!" I yell through hastened steps. The powerful deity ignored me as I trailed behind him. I pull his wrist and he painfully turns to me. He had been avoiding me theses last couple of months for reasons unbeknownst to I.
"What could you possibly want?" he sighs with a hint of annoyance.
"What is the matter with you? You take me as I am, make love to me, then dispose of me like some plague?"
"I have just been...busy Demeter"
"Lies!" I seethe as his eyes fall to the ground.

The silence between us made his intentions clear. "She has threatened you, hasn't she?" I ask.
"What my WIFE and I discuss is none of your concern!" he retorts.
"You only claim her title when it's convenient for you" I spat.
"Is that all Demeter? It seems like we have nothing more to discuss?" he says with a tone of indifference. How much Zeus wanted to mark her body with his lips but he must remain strong.
I take his soft palm and pushed it against the ridge of my stomach. His eyes opened with surprise as he felt the small kick against my round skin.
"No... no...it can't be!" Zeus fumed, snatching his hand away with disgust.

"The child is yours" I smile weakly as he bends to hear its heartbeat and places a soft kiss against my stomach.
"She will be a most powerful deity. A full blooded goddess." he proclaims but Zeus is pulled away from his blissful reality. A future with Demeter was not in his fate....
