We continued into the darkness until we came to a light. The mysterious man reached for a lantern on the stonewalling and led me down a dark and gloomy path. The humidity of the air attacked my nostrils until we came to the edge of a bank near a blackened river.

"Who are you?" I utter. He ignored me of course and stopped at a dock made of stone. Soon, a dark ferry rowed to edge where we waited.

In it, stood a tall and menacing figure that paddled against the waters. In his hand was a long pole and lumpy pouch. A dark cloak was draped around him while a pointy hood covered his face.

The edge of the ferry boat bumped against the dock and he slowly stepped off. His pointy fingers hovered in the air as he pointed at me.

"Me?" I whispered with fright. What could he possibly want with me?

He nodded silently and stepped off the ferry, using the end of his pole as a support to walk towards me.

"Stay back!" I shout audibly; my voice shook with terror as I searched for a weapon to defend myself. The figure ignored my empty threat and towered over me. He lifted up his paddle to strike me and with fear, I turn my face to embrace the blow.

A slow chuckle erupted through the air as I slowly blink open with confusion. He finally pulled off the hood to reveal his handsome visage.

"I put you through quite the scare" the youthful fellow laughed

. "I put you through quite the scare" the youthful fellow laughed. His brows lifted and his chuckle was deep and warm.

I back away as he leaned against the long paddle to regain his breaths.

"I do not see what is so funny?" I grumbled with annoyance. My capturer hid the smirk forming on his face and stared into the murky lake.

The hooded man finally regained his composure and inspected me approvingly."I like her...better than the others" he bragged before he extended his hand to greet me, "Charon; bringer of death. Charmed to meet you" he boasts. He was the perfect display of health which was ironic given his title. Still annoyed, I ignored his palm.
