Kore

I stretched and frowned as I looked at my surroundings. Aides was no where to be seen. I stood from the bed and went to dress for the day, walking into the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth.

"Where is the king?" I asked two guards as they escorted me down the hallway into the dinning room. "He is just past these doors your majesty" they both bowed and opened the double doors that led to the room. My heart skipped a beat as I saw him reading over a pile of scrolls. He looked handsome but tense, as if something dreadful was looming over him.

I went over to him and kissed his lips, gently running my fingers through his hair. He pulled me into his arms and gently held my chin, looking at me as if it was his last time.

"What" I chuckled nervously, it was as if he was reading my every thought.

"Can't I stare at my beautiful wife?" he frowned, gently running a finger against my cheek.

"Not for too long" I teased him and stood to take my seat beside him but he pulled my waist in and pushed me into his lap, "stay here" he commanded.

Excitedly, I obeyed adjusting myself in his lap, hugging his neck with love as he finished his food. "You are not hungry?" he asked, wiping his mouth clean of crumbs.

"No. I have no appetite anymore. Too much is on my mind" I frowned still thinking of my mother's unannounced visit to our realm. I wanted to see just how bad earth was but I was scared Aides wouldn't allow me to go.

"I told the servants to make your favorite?"

"Mingoes?" (Lol i had to make up a name)

"Yes" he nodded and pushed a plate of fresh mingoes to me. I lifted the hot pastry and pushed it to my lips, eager to taste it. Just before I pushed it past my lips, I smelled it and cringed. "Does this have pomegranates in it?" I asked through a frown. I hated the fruit with a passion ever since my youth.

He cursed beneath his breath but nodded. "Yes....your mother gave me a pomegranate seed that she planted in the garden."

"I want nothing of hers!" I fumed and pushed the treat away. He pushed a palm to my neck and leaned forward to kiss it. "It tastes good Kore. Come on. Just eat a bite" he said, coaxing me to consume.

"No!" I frowned and threw it to the floor. I stood from his lap and plopped into the seat next to him, forcing my tears from falling. "What a foolish woman! She knows of my distaste for pomegranates" I whispered spitefully. I tried hard to forget about my mother but he kept on reminding me. "I'm leaving...I don't feel good" I stand and walked out to go and rest.

(Go back to chapter 23 for a refresher if you're lost at this part)

As I walked back to my room, a strong force pulled me into the corner of a hallway. Thick chains of iron wrapped around my mouth so I could not scream.

Soon, I was transported and dropped to a hard stone floor. The chains that had bound me dissolve into the air. "Let me out!" I screamed, standing to observe my surroundings. I was in the same place as the first night of my capture.

The three sisters hovered over their cauldron throwing spices of fig and blood into its contents.

"Queen Persephone" they smiled and bowed. I frowned and backed away, trying to find the exit before they could remind me of my promise.

"Why have you brought me here." I snapped.

"Can't we give a congratulations to the queen! You have passed your Dokimi!"
