1 month passes and yet, I am still suffering. Earth is no better. It is desolate. A wasteland of despair.
Just a few days ago, my mother began to repair it and I join her in the garden, rebuilding all she has torn.
I walk amongst the fields, taking long walks in the meadows that once were gardens of sweet cherry blossoms. I wear black now instead of white, a color that suited my mental disposition. My mother begged me to wear bright colors of purple and azure, but I listened to her no more. She could barely take care of her own appearance; why should I listen to her?
Was it bad that my heart burned every time she reached out to embrace me? Every touch she placed against my cheek, my skin turned cold. Every word she speaks, I sneer.
I hated her...
Poseidon comes to my side but I can barely force myself to smile. "Your mother told me I would find you here"
"And where else would I be uncle?" I whispered. He is quiet, still looking at the stream of waters that struggled to flow from the neglected earth.
"It's quiet on earth. No noise. No sound."
"Do you not favor peace?" He asks through a smile.
"I used to believe that when a moment was placid, it meant peace but now? I am reminded of how empty my heart is and I listen to my thoughts. They are so reckless uncle...if only you could see them, you would cast me away" I never took my eyes off the waters until a bird flies by. He looks at me, understanding my mind and nodding, it was not too long ago that he was in a dark place.
"Tell me...I can handle it, Poseidon." I knew something was on his heart.
"Kore" He began his address, seizing at the opportunity to abstain from telling me any news from the underworld.
"Tell me!" I yelled impatiently. He leans against the branch of a tree, contemplating with his spirits whether to tell me or not.
"He is... crowning a new queen." He furrows a heavy brow.
"Iris" I suggested, I couldn't help the scoff that left my lips. He nodded, picking a dead leaf from the ground and twirling it between his fingers.
"I suppose he is content with her? Why wouldn't he be? He would prefer her than the woman who tried to kill him."
"Kore, just give him time? He will understand in due time that it was a trick of the eye!"
"In due time? And when will that be uncle? When he crowns her? When she is laying fearlessly between his sheets, whispering sweet melodies in his ear? When Uncle!?" I yelled, looking into his vivid blue eyes before collapsing into his chest. A thick stream of tears begins to flow so carelessly before I feel the warmth of his palm against my curls.
"Kore... you must talk to her"
"No uncle" I shook my head so violently.
"Kore...you must! It has been weeks!" Poseidon advised, urging me to rethink my determination.
"How can I talk to the woman who I hate so much?" I curse his suggestion, "How can I talk to the woman who makes me see red? The woman who has taken everything and left me with nothing! I hate her!"
Poseidon grabs my shoulders and pushes my jaw up to face his. "Because she is the very one who can reunite you with your love" he suggested.
