Kore
The night was quiet as I tiptoed into the room where Aides slept. I take the sword of Elesium and press it against my back, moving closer to where Aides rested in our bed. He looked so peaceful as he rested, his chest falling and rising to the rhythm of his heartbeat. Hesitantly, I brought the weapon over his head, being mindful to not wake him with any sudden movement.
My hot tears began to flow as I watched his gentle being, regretting the sin I was soon to commit. Just as I raised it above his chest, he woke up and studied me. "Kore?" he whispered, still foggy from his sleep.
He curses as he sits up and sees the weapon in my hand. "What are you doing?" he asked through a tone of betrayal. I lunged at him but he quickly rolled over to the right side of the bed, eager to avoid my blow. "KORE! are you MAD!" he yelled, holding my wrists in an attempt to stop my cut. I pushed him down into the pillows, desperate to pierce his core.

I wake up the next day and see Kore pressed against my chest. I couldn't help but smirk as I observe her fine features. How her thick curls fell so effortlessly against her golden cheeks. I stroked her lips with a gentle finger as they curled with pride. l bent to trap them within mine, keen to familiarize myself with their taste.
"Stop....no" she whispered in her sleep and frowned, wiggling in discomfort. She was probably having another night terror. She had been restless these past few weeks, having dreams that would keep her up all night.
"Kore" I brush her cheek to persuade her to wake. I worried about her state of mind. Her eyebrows furrowed with fear as she turned between the sheets. Even with her troubled spirit, she still looked beautiful but I couldn't help but notice a change in her was apparent. Her face that once held life was dark and heavy. It was as if something sinister hung over her conciseness...
"NO!" she clung onto my chest as she groaned with pain. "NO! Aides" she moaned beneath a breath as she turned in her sleep. I ran a gentle palm through her hair trying to calm her down. She twisted and turned still troubled by her sleep demons.
"NOOO!" she screamed, punching the air with determination. She looked frantic fighting the emptiness of the room.
"Kore..." I try to wake her up from her night terror, "Kore! WAKE UP!"
"No! No!!" she screamed, wrestling against my grip around her shoulders.
Kore
A struggle ensues until I push him to the ground and stand over his body. He looked at me and smiled as if he was delighted to accept his fate. "Do it then" he tempts me, pulling open his robe to show off his chest.
"No...NO!" was all I could say but it was as if the sword had a mind of its own. It dragged me to where he sat, leading me to his helpless form. Soon, I plunged the sword into his heart, dragging it down until it reached the center of his stomach. He curses and looks into my eyes, grabbing my jaw to force me to face him. "Long...live...Queen Persophone" he sighed beneath strained breaths before black blood dripped from his chest.
"AIDES!!" I screamed, dropping the sword to the floor, but it was too late. He was dead. I pulled him into my arms, slapping his face to wake him up. "Aides! Aides!" I yelled through heavy sobs.
Aides
"NOOOOOOO!!!" she screamed, finally waking up from her dream and looking around the room for calm. She looked into my eyes and sobbed into my neck, hugging my body with fear.
'Kore...it was just a dream" I grabbed her and pulled her into my chest to calm down. She looks into my eyes then down to my chest, examining my skin for something??
"I'm sorry" she pouted, still sobbing into my chest, "Aides...I'm so sorry" she repeats over and over again.
"For what?" I assure her, kissing her scalp. She finally stops her crying and kisses my chest repeadtly, refusing to part from my reach. I caress her shoulder as she rested her head into my chest. "So are you going to tell me what's been keeping you up at night?" She exhaled and shook her head no, "Nothing...just about...nothing" she stumbled to find her words.
"You can tell me. It was just a dream" I assured her. Their was no judgement from me, plus, I was concerned by her frightened grimace. Hesitantly, she looked into my eyes and watched my features. "I had a nightmare I was going to kill you...I killed you" she whispered.
"That is the dream that has been keeping you up all these days?" I asked her. She nodded carefully and looked into my eyes. I only chuckled at her words and kissed her lips."You can't kill a deity Kore."
"But I did...I used a special sword" she admitted, not finding the humor in her tale. I chuckled again and kissed her lips. "Kore, you would never kill me. No matter how intimidated you felt. You don't have it in you to commit the crime"
"But what if I did" she cursed my dismissal, "you never know."
"I do know. I know you more than you think. Even if you did get a hold of the sword of Elesium you would never use it."
"How did you know the name of the sword!" she exclaimed, shifting nervously within the sheets. I looked at her eyes and wondered the reason for her nerves.
"It is the only weapon used to kill a god. Many years ago, a jealous mortal attempted to kill Zeus by challenging him to a duel. He lost of course and was banished to the underworld. Zeus demanded it be tossed in the fiery pits in Tartarus. It's hidden somewhere in the realm."
"Oh" she chewed her lip and turned to watch her fingers.
"I am not the deity of nightmares but have had dreams like that in my past. Those dreams are your struggle to "put to death" something in your life. You are trying to find a way to get some relief from the problems in your reality" I suggested.
"Like my mother" she cursed beneath a breath. I pull her chin to face me and caress her cheek, I could tell she was guilty of having dark dreams.
"Why do you always call me that?" she muttered.
"Call you what?" I asked.
"Kore... it reminds me of...." her voice trailed off.
"Is it such a bad thing to be reminded of her and the life you once had on earth?" I asked her.
"Yes! It is!" she denounces my curiosity and stands to wash her face. I was growing impatient with her stubborness. It was my fault for keeping her from the truth.
"Come." I stand and signaled her to dress. "I need to show you something. It is time we visit your birthplace." I declared and turned to groom. She needed to witness the state of the earth with her own eyes.
