MasonMount;
If I can be half the man you was as a father figure, I know I'll be just fine, forever thankful that I had you to look up to, forever grateful that you'll be the best grandad to my children.

Mason didn't remember entering the hospital, or the journey in the ambulance, but he remembered the anxious feeling hitting his stomach and overwhelming him as he was stopped from travelling with Lacey's body on the bed. "You just need to wait here for a moment" the nurse said, as she held Mason back, Mason still trying to get through to Lacey, as another hand held him back. "Sir, you need to wait a moment" a males voice called, as Mason followed the voice, faintly remembering his face from years ago. "I remember you" Mason whispered, as the doctor nodded his head. "Please, let us do what we need to do, Lacey lost consciousness in the ambulance, we need to ensure that she remains stable to deliver your children" The doctor warned, as Mason remembered the news the same doctor had given him years ago when the midwife couldn't find their first child's heartbeat. "Please don't let anything happen to her" Mason whispered, as his hand ran down his face, trying his hardest to contain his emotion, as his eyes landed on his football boots, the socks that had grass stains over them, to his number 19 shorts.
The doctors and nurses all flooded into the room Lacey had been rushed into, Mason trying his hardest to take deep breaths, but before her knew it, Declan's arms were wrapped around him, holding him close, as Mason sobbed quietly into his best friends chest.
"They won't let me in" Mason whispered, as he looked up at his best friend, who nodded his head, Lauren and Sasha following down the hallway, concern dripping from their faces, as Ben and Jack followed behind them, Ellie walking slowly with Callum, who also had the same look the girls had on their faces.
"Has the match finished?" Mason whispered, as he looked down at his phone, seeing the time.
"You've been here a while Mase" Declan whispered, as Mason nodded his head, not really taking in the words anyone was saying around him."Mr Mount?" The doctor called, as Mason walked down the hallway, being greeted with the doctor, who ushered him into the room. "We're ready to do what we need to do, but we have to ask the question" The doctors stated, as a nurse held Masons arm in a comforting way, as Masons eyes casted over Lacey, who looked as if she was peacefully sleeping on the bed, but the wires that trailed from her body made him believe she wasn't just sleeping.
"Lacey is too small to be able to deliver the twins in a natural birth, we're going to have to do an emergency c-section, one of the twins are breach which isn't a problem with c-section, but Lacey is loosing blood, and we need to do this quickly, but we have to ask the question of what you want us to do is we have to save someone" the nurse whispered, as Mason looked over at Lacey, he knew that she would kill him a thousand times over if he chose her, but he knew that they could always try again, and he never thought he would be put in this position, not now, not ever. "I can't lose them" Mason whispered, as the nurse nodded her head, ready to give the instruction, until Mason reached his hand out holding onto the nurse as she turned around and gave him a sympathetic smile. "Save Lacey, I need her" Mason whispered, as he let another tear fall. "We will do everything we can to not have to make that decision" The nurse stated. "But we have to do what we have to do" the nurse continued. "Can I come?" Mason whispered, as another nurse handed him the scrubs he would need to be in the room. "Take a moment to put this on, but please be aware, this could be hard for you to see" The smaller nurse, who looked a lot younger than Mason stated, as he nodded his head, walking out of the room, to see the group of friends who had gathered in the hallway, all of them watching as Mason walked out of the room, his face as white as his socks originally were, the tears stained on his face, his eyes a bloodshot red.
"Mase?" Declan whispered, as he approached his friend. "I told them to save Lacey if they have to chose" Mason whispered, as the nurse reminded Mason they were running out of time.
"We will be right here" Declan whispered, hugging his friend a final time, before Mason placed the scrubs on his body, pulling the blue plastic hat over his hair, following as they led Lacey down the hallway on the bed, Mason grabbing her hand and squeezing it."Lace, I don't know if you can hear me, but I love you" Mason whispered. "God we can never do things in the right way can we" Mason laughed, as he fought back the tears, as the entered the theatre. "But I swear to god if you don't come back to me, I'll ensure that your time up there is hell" Mason chuckled. "We're in this together, I need you" Mason continued, as the Doctor called for space at the table, the drips that were in her veins being hung up. Everything they needed being placed around them, as Mason was ushered to wait towards the side of the room.
"Please" Mason whispered, as he watched on at the doctors and nurses cutting Lacey open, watching with one eye closed as he imagined the pain she would be in, the pain she would be in after, and he couldn't help but feel guilty, wishing he could swap everything and be that person on the table.
But Mason felt the world stop, even if it was just for a moment, as he heard the crying of a baby, and the beeping of a machine, closing his eyes, praying for the better outcome, but knowing in the back of his mind that this could be the day his life changes forever, and not in a good way.
