They say that when you're going to die, in the final moments you see your life flash before your eyes. There's never been anyone to state whether it's the good parts, or the last parts, or whether it's the moments you said you'd remember forever, or the moments you wish never happened, all they say is that your life is flashed before your eyes in seven minutes. Seven minutes for a lifetime of memories, and you're often left wondering which moments you'd want to see, the moments you know you don't want to see.

But as Lacey lay there, her mind blank, but her conscious working around her, she didn't know whether this was it, or whether it was just beginning. She had cheated death before, but could she do it again.

"It's just like she's asleep, we're monitoring her every half an hour, so don't be alarmed if people are popping in and out" the nurse whispered, as she held a hand to Masons shoulder, which he shrugged off, part of him felt guilty, he didn't even look at the twins, he just followed Lacey. He knew that not one, but two babies depended on him now, but all he wanted was to see Lacey open her eyes, to hear her argue with him once more, today was supposed to be one of the happiest days of his life, but instead, he was read the rights and the worst that could happen, and he knew all too well, that he could leave the hospital with just the twins and the memory of the girl that lay on the bed, oblivious to everything going on around her.
"We're right outside if you need us" the nurse whispered, as Mason stood there, a hand holding his head up, as he took a seat in a seat he knew he would claim, it didn't matter how many days he had to wait, he would wait a lifetime just to see her smile again.

But as the hours dragged on, and Declan and Jack popped in and out, bringing cups of coffee, or a sandwich they knew he wouldn't eat, he found himself looking through photos and videos of the years him and Lacey had been together, the time he had known her, and he couldn't help but feel overwhelmed.

He opened his Instagram up, seeing his name and photos all over the search page, it was hard to believe that it was still the same day, hours ago only being pushed around by Jack, to now being sat by Lacey's bedside, his twins down the hallway.
Mason opened up Lacey's profile, scrolling down to the bottom, clicking on various videos to see her smile, or hear her laugh, he just wanted her to come back to him.

Please remember me like this, beautiful and talking shit, cause things get ugly way too quick, and right now we're just so perfect, so please, remember me just like this..

Lacey sang to her hearts content on the stage, smiling and dancing around, Mason letting a tear fall at her singing one of his favourite songs, he knew it was about him, he knew it was his favourite, it would always be his favourite, and he would always remember her the way she was, in his eyes perfect, no flaw to big to scare him away, and he knew the moment she left him the first time, he would do anything he could to get her back, and maybe he got lost along the way, but she did come back, she come back to him, and he would always chose her, over and over again.

Masons eyes scrolled through the photos and the videos, his eyes never leaving the phone, even when Declan's hand tapped his shoulder.
"Mase, they need you to sign some papers" Declan whispered, as he finally pulled his eyes away from the screen, turning to look at his best friend, who looked pretty similar to him, tired, cried out eyes and messy hair. "Will someone sit with her?" Mason whispered, as Ben and Ellie come into the room, a new round of coffee, sympathetic smiles, and lowered heads to the ground.

As Mason and Declan walked down the hallway, Mason avoiding eye contact with anyone and everyone, his eyes adverted to his feet as he walked, the images clouding his mind of Lacey being cut open, the twins appearing, the crying leaving their mouth as the beeping got louder, they always said as one soul entered the world, one must leave, but Mason would sign a deal with the devil if he had to, he wasn't loosing Lacey, not now, not ever.

As Mason walked into the room, he saw his beautiful children lay there, sleeping soundly, both attached to small wires just to monitor them, despite the circumstances and them being a couple of weeks earlier than expected, they were healthy, fighting fit, just like Mason, but the angelic face of their mother, as Mason felt his heart feeling like it would explode, seeing Jack and Callum stood with them, staring down at their tiny hands and feet.
"Congratulations" Callum whispered, as Mason nodded his head. "I'm sure I'll feel better once she wakes up" Mason whispered, as he turned around and spoke to the nurse quietly, signing what he needed to, he just didn't expect to do this alone.
"Do you have any names?" Jack questioned, as he wrapped an arm around Masons shoulder, holding him close.
"Lace has named one, and I've named the other" Mason whispered, as he found his hand reaching into the hole of the incubator, the twins waking up at the sound of their dads voice, as one twin wrapped a hand around Masons finger, holding it tight, as Mason let another tear fall. Lacey should be here for this, this isn't right.
"I'm a dad, I should feel the happiest, why does it hurt?" Mason whispered, as the twin held his finger tighter, almost telling him that everything would be okay.
"We're gonna get through this, she's a fighter" Jack whispered, as Callum nodded his head, standing next to Mason, holding an hand to his shoulder. "She's not going anywhere" Callum whispered. "I hope you're right, because I can't live without her" Mason whispered.
