"Mum sent some more flowers, I think we've turned the room into a florist place" Mason laughed, as he continued to talk to Lacey, he was adamant she could hear him, and in Lacey's head, she was listening intently, she heard every word he said, every phone call he took, every noise the twins would make. "I miss you so much" Mason whispered, as he squeezed her hand, he had become an expert in a day or two, of being able to cradle one twin in his arm, the other holding Lacey's hand, but he wasn't prepared for her to squeeze his hand back this time. "Lace?" Mason whispered, as he watched her eyes flutter, as he let go of her hand, placing the one twin back down, as he pressed the button for someone to come into him. "Lace, I'm right here" Mason whispered, as he held her hand in both of his, as the nurse walked in, looking at Lacey as she opened her eyes. "I really need a wee" Lacey mumbled, as Mason smiled down at her. "I'm going to bloody kill you, why do you do this to me!" Mason mumbled, his voice quieter than usual due to the twins in the room, as Lacey moved her head, catching sight of the cot. "Did I give birth? Where are the twins? What's happened?" Lacey muttered, as she tried to sit up in the bed, but instantly lay back down, feeling sick, her body hurting in places she didn't know it was able to hurt or ache. "What's going on?" Lacey whispered, as the nurse stood looking at Lacey's observations. "I'll leave you two to it" she smiled, as she exited the room, leaving Lacey with Mason, and the two sleeping babies."You had a complicated birth, they had to do an emergency c-section, you lost a lot of blood, I prayed that you'd be okay, I prayed really fucking hard" Mason whispered, as Lacey looked up at Mason, taking in how tired he looked, how ill he was beginning to look. The usual sparkle in his eyes was no where to be seen, the smile that she fell in love with time and time again being washed from him face, even the crinkles by his eye were gone, he looked like he hadn't slept in a week, and she had smelt better old people than him. "You look like death" Lacey whispered, as she tried to sit up again, taking it a little easier this time, as Mason moved the buttons on the bed, helping her sit up, as she looked over at the cot, it looked too small to have two babies in there, let alone one. "Are they okay?" Lacey whispered, as Mason smiled at her, letting go of her hand to roll the movable cot over to her.
"Babies, meet Mummy" Mason whispered, as he dropped the cot lower, allowing Lacey to see inside. "Oh my god, they're tiny" Lacey whispered, as her eyes began to tear up. "Hey, don't cry, they're fine and you're fine" Mason whispered, as Lacey nodded her head. "I know, it's just a bit overwhelming isn't it, but it's the best sleep I've had in months, I couldn't even hear you snore" Lacey giggled, as Mason rolled his eyes, shaking his head, but his smile finding a wag back to his face. "You still find light in the darkest of situations" Mason laughed, as Lacey smiled up at her. "Do you want to try and hold one?" Mason whispered, as Lacey looked at him. "You haven't even told me what we had?" Lacey laughed, as Mason smirked. "One of each, it really is a buy one get one free type of thing" Mason continued to smirk as Lacey hit his arm playfully. "Names?" Lacey whispered, as Mason smiled. "Well, we definitely have a Maisey-Leigh" Mason smiled. "But I couldn't remember did you liked Teddy or Tommy more" Mason whispered, as Lacey felt the tears leave her eyes, she wasn't sad, or upset, they were happier tears, but she knew she would always name her first born male, or her only born male after her dad. "Teddy-James" Lacey whispered, as Mason smiled. "Teddy-James, meet Mummy" Mason smiled, as Lacey shuffled along slightly, letting Mason sit on the edge of the bed, cradling Teddy in his arms, as Lacey looked down at the both, feeling a sense of pride, she had done it, she had produced not one, but two healthy children, with the love of her life.
"You're really quiet" Mason whispered, as Lacey shook her head smiling. "I'm happy, I'm just a little overwhelmed" Lacey whispered, as Mason nodded, passing Teddy to Lacey, for her to hold, allowing him to grab Maisey from the cot. "How did we get so lucky?" Lacey whispered, as Mason smiled down at her, holding Maisey in his arms, as his eyes glanced over Lacey and Teddy. "I ask myself the same thing everyday" Mason whispered, as Lacey smiled up at him. "Our perfect little family" Lacey whispered, as Mason smiled down at her, a million thoughts running through his head.He hadn't just sat in his own self pity party, he had been proactive, planning things he needed to plan, ordering Christmas presents he now knew he needed. With Christmas being just over a week away, knowing that there was no time like the present to start his future with his family.
"I love you" Lacey whispered, as Mason looked down at her, feeling the warmth in his chest, feeling the feeling he had felt the moment he knew it was her, the moment he knew he wanted her from that day and forever more. "I love you a whole lot more Lace" Mason whispered, as he pressed his lips to the top of her head.LaceyCross_x
