chapt 1

Ahhh I'm so excited to write this story I've been dying to write a long distance LGBTQ+ story I hope you enjoy and get ready for the ride

Running towards my class I get there just in time before my professor closed the door. "Just on time kai, what's your excuse?" He asks. "The bus got into a crash with a car so I had to wait for the next one" I say.

He raises his eyebrows "what?" He questions. I pull my phone out to show him the proof and he sighs "okay get to your seat" he says. I mentally pat myself on the shoulder for taking pics for proof while taking a seat at the back.

A few minutes go by before the boredom sets in so I sneakily look at my phone to see if my mom or sister have texted me. My mom asking if I got to class okay and my sister sending me a tiktok but then i check twitter to see if anyone in any of my groupchats are awake.

Jacob messaged in saying he's taking a break because him and his girlfriend sage broke up. I message him to make sure he's okay and I look at his tweets to see if he's said anything publicly or on his alt account.

Jcube_ alt: asked to be poly after 2 years and when I said no you just cheat. Nice one.

My jaw drops and I panic type to him, we've been friends for about a year so I care. A few minutes later he messages me back that he's okay. I go back to focusing on class putting my phone away until the end.

I only have one class today so I walk to the starbucks on campus so I can get a coffee. My bus doesn't come for another 15 minutes so I sit at one of the tables in the cafe area of the starbucks.

While I'm helping Jacob distract his mind I get a message on twitter from his ex. We've talked a few times here and there and she was in the groupchat but left because she got busy. "Um Jacob, uhhh sage just messaged me" I say.

He stops talking in discord and I quickly make sure he's still in the call. "Um what she say?" He asks. "Just hey" I answer. I can hear him sigh "message her back, make it clear you know I'm hurt" he says.

I read out what I write before sending it and he gives me the go. "Tell me what she says" he says quietly. "I will i uh gotta go get my bus back home but I'll message you what she says" i say. "Alright talk to you later then" he says.

We both leave the call at the same time and i put my phone in my pocket heading to my bus stop, when i get there it's just pulling up. I play music in my ears and sit waiting to get home.

A few hours after I get home Jacob wants to voice chat in discord again so I sit at my desk trying to be quiet. "Has she said anything else?" He asks. "She asked if I know what happened" I answer. He laughs "of course she did" he says.

"I saw your tweet about her wanting to be poly" I say. "Yeah, I don't believe I can do that with anyone so I said no and she cheated" he says. "Wow, did she say why she wanted to be poly?" I ask. "Nope but she suggested you when pitching the idea" he says.

I try not to spit out the water I just took a sip of "what?" I ask in shock. "Yeah, I don't see you that way and she was trying to push it" he says. " I wouldn't do that to you" I start. "We were together 2 years but I was mentally out of it months ago i wouldn't be hurt if you wanted to explore anything with her" he says.

My mind becomes very confused, mostly as to why he is even suggesting that I get with his ex "she's not really my type" i say. "Fair enough, try talking to her at least" he says. "Dude she cheated on you, she'd likely cheat on me too" I point out.

He sighs "right" he whispers. We finish our talk since its 3am where he is so he goes to sleep and I wonder into my kitchen grabbing something to eat and sitting quietly with my mom while she watches something.

I'm guessing sage has also gone to sleep so I just spend the rest of the night hanging out with my mom before going to sleep around midnight.

The morning comes around and I wake up to the groupchat being active, a message from jacob and a few from sage as well. I sigh checking my schedule for today, I have a morning shift at the cafe near campus before my class.

When I first started school I didn't know what degree I wanted to get then I realized I wanted to be a teacher of some sort so I'm getting a degree in education, I'm going for a degree in english literature next.

I put some music on while I quicky do my makeup and I put my hair in a messy bun before finding an outfit I can wear to work and to class after. My phone dings, its Jacob sending me a tweet from sages open alt account. 'Don't know if she even is sorry'

@/Sageunhinged: sorry I ruin things

My alarm to leave goes off and I make sure I have everything before shouting to my mon letting her know I'm off to work. It doesn't take me long and claire was already there opening up.

Not many people come in while I'm working but a nice looking guy that looks around 24 sits in the corner doing what looks like school work.

He's quiet the whole time and before he leaves I take his to go order. An Americano. "Thank you kai" he says nicely before putting a five dollar bill in the tip jar.

Claire nudges me after  he leaves "hes in here all the time" she says. I shrug cleaning up a bit "I've only seen him a few times" I reply. "Get his number next time" she says.

Right before I go to reply my phone vibrates in my back pocket. A dm from sage. I think for a second before putting my phone back into my pocket.

I'm not one for being with a friends ex especially right after they split.

My shift goes by and so does my English class. My moms at work when I get home so I end up feeding our cats and going to sleep before she comes home late.
