Chapt 20

I think we're about half way done now woohoo!

"Miss. Kai! How do you spell patriarchy?" The oldest of my students asks. I try my best not to laugh before spelling it out for her and going back to grading spelling tests.

This class ends and they go for lunch, I quickly organize everything before locking the class door and going over to the staff room.

A few of the teachers are interacting and I sit across from leia "ah kai how are you?" She asks. "I'm good, how are you? How are you students?" I ask. "Good, how are the 4th graders" she asks. "Great they're funny" I answer.

She nods in agreement, she's now teaching grade 5 instead of the third graders. "Olivia asked me how to spell patriarchy today" I say. Her eyes widen and then she looks confused "why would she?" She asks.

I laugh slightly "I asked them what fancy words they'd like to know the spelling for and to try their best to spell it and then I'd tell them how" I reply shrugging and taking a bite of a carrot.

"That's interesting" she says. We talk for a little bit before one of my other students comes running in "Jackson hit nico and then they started fighting" he says out of breath.

After processing what he says I follow him to the play ground, a few of the supervisors have them separated. "I got this boys come here" I say sternly.

They both walk over to me frowning and glaring at each other. "What started the fight?" I ask them. "Nico said he likes Olivia" Jackson says. Pushing back the feeling of wanting to laugh I make them talk it out and then hug it out.

"I won't tell your moms today but if it happens again I will" I tell them. They both nod and then walk off to continue playing. The bell rings as I'm walking back in and I rush back to the class room.

Only a few of them are there waiting so I put on a YouTube video as they all come back in. This class is math with the same group of people.

This class goes by quick and then my next english class comes in. I get them to do the same thing i got the morning class to do and it goes smoothly. Just an hour later the final bell rings and I finish up with marking a couple hours later.

Claire texts me on the way home that she got dropped off by Joseph so I take a detour to the coffee shop. Harrison greets me and then claire pops out carrying a sack of coffee beans.

She's not off for another couple of hours so I order a drink and sit in the corner observing the people the come in and go. Harrison brings me another drink as soon as he notices my cup is empty. "Thank you" I whisper.

"Of course girl, how are you? Are you holding up since eli left?" He asks. I sigh "I'm good, I didn't need him if he was just going to leave when it got slightly serious" I answer. He gives me a high five before walking off to go back to working.

The couple of hours go by and I help them close up so they can go home faster. Claire and I drive home "you hungry?" I ask her. She nods rubbing her stomach "yeah, taco bell?" She asks. I laugh before pulling into the nearest taco bell drive thru.

We both order crunch wraps and 7 layer burritos with cinnamon twists and I also ordered fries. While driving I eat a few fries before we get home and claire eats her  cinnamon twists.

As soon as we're comfortable we dig into our food and watch tv. We both also separately scroll on our phones and I switch from twitter to Instagram, the feed refreshes and a photo of shawn outside of a bar pops up.

I raise my eyebrows slightly confused before reading the caption and the location.
