chapt 13

I know it was left off on a cliffhanger but here we are :) enjoy

Taking a deep breath I turn around and think of what to say but he looks at me surprised. "Your hairs grown" he says. "It has been a few months shawn" I reply. "Fair enough, how are you?" He asks.

I shrug "I'm alright, what are you doing in cali?" I ask. "Searching for bar locations" he says. My heart thumps "you're still opening one here?" I ask. "Yeah, it's still my home" he says.

We just stand there as he looks at the menu, we've added and taken away a few items since he's last been here, I've never heard silence quite this loud. "You do cold foam now?" He asks. "Yeah, I can also add any syrups in" i reply.

The awkwardness goes away after a few minutes and he sits in the corner typing away on his phone after I've made his drink.

Only a few people are here but they're gone by time we're set to close. Claire stands next to me as I finish washing the glasses "you gotta tell him we're closing" she says. "I'm sure he's aware" I say.

She raises her eyebrows "you're gonna talk to him?" She asks. "It's been awhile and we agreed to be friends" I reply before going over to him. "Oh sorry i didn't realize you guys were closing soon i forgot the time" he says.

"Its fine uh are you doing anything tonight? Its Friday and i was just going to sit at home since claire's going over to her boyfriends" I ask. "Uh I have to check out a bar I wanna buy, do you wanna come with?" He asks looking up at me.

I shrug "sure, let me just finish up and we can go" I let him know. He nods "take your time" he replies. I go back behind the counter and finish everything with the help of claire.

She looks at me then looks over at him "what was that?" She asks raising her eyebrows. "I emotionally detached myself a month ago, I am over him" i say. "Then what are you doing?" She asks.

"You're going to Joseph's so I'm doing my own thing" i say. She turns her back leaning against the counter "are you sure you know what you're doing?" She asks. "Yes I'm sure" I reply confidently. "Text me if you need me, I'm sure Joseph wouldn't mind relocating our night to our place" she says.

We close up the shop and claire leaves before we do. "I took an uber" shawn says. I nod "okay we'll take my car then, you can drive" I say tossing him the keys. He catches them and we get in.

Music quietly starts playing and I ignore the few buzzes coming from my phone. "So hows the teaching job?" He asks. "Good uh I'm helping out in a class before next school year, I'll have my own class then" i answer. "That's dope kai" he says.

I look over at him while he's driving, I forgot how sharp his jawline is and how he has a freckle behind his ear. "Do you wanna change at all?" He asks. "Nah I'm good in this, we won't be there long right?" I ask.

"Yeah, only like 20 minutes" he says. We get there quicker than I expected, there's people standing outside smoking and talking amongst themselves.

We go inside and he grabs my hand "just stay close" he whispers. I nod and follow him through the building, he looks around and then drags me to the bar. "What can I get you two?" The extremely tired looking bartender asks.

He looks over at me "just a shot for my girl" he says. "What's your liquor of choice?" She asks me. "Uh tequila" I answer. She nods pouring it perfectly "heres a lemon and salt if you need it" she says.

I shake my head and take it down without needing either of them. "Impressive" she says. Shawn chuckles "forgot you're good at that" he says. "Not the only thing" I comment winking at him.

The bartender smirks to herself before moving onto the next people. After the twenty minutes we leave and he plays the music and we just sing along together.

He gets to my apartment and parks in my stall for me. "It was nice seeing you again" he comments. I look over at him "yeah uh it was nice seeing you too" I reply. "Did you wanna come up and talk or something?" I ask.

"Oh uh sure, I'll cancel my uber" he says quickly going on his phone. We get out and he hands me the keys after we meet at the front.

As we stand quietly in the elevator my mind wonders and I feel his hand wrap around my waist. I look back at him and he has a straight face and he's looking forward.

He goes to the kitchen as soon as we enter the apartment. I sit up on the counter and he grabs wine glasses and the already opened bottle pouring us each a glass. "To being mature after breaking up" he says.

I laugh slightly and take a sip "it's weird, I've never been friends with an ex before" I reply. He leans against the other counter looking at me "really?" He asks. I nod "yeah, well not ones I had sex with anyways" I point out.

"Uh ha that's fair, you seeing anyone?" He asks. I shake my head, sage is being distant again but still messages me occasionally. "Nope, haven"t had sex since the last time you were here either" I reply being honest.

While looking down I see his feet move in front of me and I hear the glass being put down next to mine beside me. "Really?" He asks. "Yeah" I whisper.

He lifts my face up making me look into his eyes "you can say no but would you want to?" He asks. I look him in the eyes and everything that happened during our relationship his flashes through my eyes.

"Yeah might as well" I say. He chuckles and I rest my hands on his chest, he slowly moves his hand down my waist and between my legs. He rests his forehead against mine taking a deep breath "are you sure?" He asks.

I nod "yeah" I whisper. He nods and lifts me up wrapping my legs around his waist, he places me on the edge of my bed and removes my jeans in one swoop.

He gets down and spreads my legs, next thing I know he's going down on me. My back arches slightly right before he stops, a few seconds go by before I feel him enter me. He groans slightly and holds my hips moving and causing friction.

My back arches and my toes start curling on their own, my forehead sweaty and my shirt soaking up any sweat coming from my skin. "Jesus" he groans one last time. He collapses beside me and then pulls me closer.

Before we could fall asleep I go to the bathroom and then we sit talking for and drinking for a bit before he decides to go to his hotel for the night instead of staying here.

As soon as he leaves I grab my phone looking at it. I have a couple messages from claire telling me shes staying the night at josephs and a few from sage.

I reply back to her and then I fall asleep on the couch covered in my blankets and a random tv show playing in the back.
