chapt 10

In my sleep I feel a hand move my leg slightly in an attempt to wake me up. I let out a sigh as I open my eyes "hey are you okay?" Claire asks.

"Shawn and I broke up" I say sitting up, she sits down at the foot of my bed in shock "really? I thought you were going to visit him in a couple weeks" she says. "I did too but we videochatted and talked, we agreed that the distance is too much for us and our schedules" I explain.

She listens to me talk before going and grabbing ice cream and wine. "This will help" she says handing me the pint of Netflix n chill ben and Jerry's ice cream and a class of wine with ice.

After a little bit we move to the couch and watch tv. "Now that you're single after over a year you've gotta download tinder or go out on the town" she says. I sigh "I don't want to download any dating apps yet" I say.

"But you're single!" she says. "I'm not ready yet" I say. She doesn't say anything else and we go back to watching our show. To distract my mind I scroll on twitter and interact with my friends.

I switch over to my alt and tweet out a few breakup lyrics and then go back to watching the show. My phone buzzes a couple times and I wait a bit to look at it.

                              saw your tweets
                              hope you're doing ok

"Sage just messaged me" I say. Claire looks over at me "really? What she say?" She asks. "Hey, saw your tweets and then hope you're doing ok" I answer. "Are you going to say anything" she asks.

Shrugging I stare at my phone for a few seconds. "I don't know" I say. "Just be honest with her" she says. I nod and type out a reply.

A couple hours go by and I end up falling asleep on the couch, claire leaves me there and I wake up the next morning to freshly made coffee with some breakfast.

"How are you feeling?" She asks. I shrug, i feel kind of empty, I didn't expect to feel like this after. I was checked out of the relationship for the last couple weeks but this still feels like absolute shit. "It's going to take me awhile to be ok" I say.

We finish up breakfast before we go into work for the day. Nothing eventful happens but viola comes in after she's done her class and we do some more training. While nobodies in the store and we aren't doing anything we just stand and talk.

"So how are you and shawn doing? I know distance is hard" she asks. "Um we actually broke up, it's why I wasn't here yesterday I slept all day after crying all night" I reply. "Really? You guys seemed fine when he visited" she says shocked.

I sigh running my hand through my hair "uh yeah, well our schedules were conflicting and it was getting too much" I respond. A few hours go by and we close up the shop and go home for the night. I open alone tomorrow so I'm definitely just showering and going straight to bed.

While Claire's driving us home I get a few messages on twitter, I ignore them until we're home just so nothing changes my mood of singing Taylor swift songs loudly with claire.

Once I do look at my phone I see a message from Jacob. He's been back for a couple weeks but we haven't talked as much I thought we would, and there's a message from sage.

Instead of ignoring her like I normally would I message her back being honest. She tells me she's free to video chat or voice chat if I want. I'm not sure why she's still awake because of the large time difference.

After I shower and put on an oversized shirt I lay in my bed wrapped in my blankets like a burrito and my earbud in. We sit in voice chat talking all night until I fall asleep.
