_____________________________May
It is now may long weekend and I have the next few days off from work but sage still has to work so I'll be trying to entertain myself while she's gone. Thankfully claire and my sister have a few days off as well.
The cases for the virus have gone way down everywhere, unfortunately we have to get booster shots every 6 months so cases don't rise. I'm fine with it but I know there's going to be people that don't want to get it.
"How are you feeling about moving schools?" Claire asks. I shrug "a tad nervous to meet the new teachers and the students, I haven't told my students that I won't be there next school year" I answer. "Why haven't you?" She asks.
I've only been there for a few years but the students have really made an impact on me so I'll miss them. "I don't want them to be upset and beg for me to stay until the school year ends" I answer simply.
We finish up our lunch and drive around la for a little bit even going shopping for an hour. My phone buzzes and sage is calling me "hi baby" I answer. "Hey love I'm on my way home, anything planned for dinner?" She asks.
"Uh no I'm out shopping with claire, wanna meet at the cheesecake factory?" I ask her. "Yeah! I'll stop off at home to change quickly then I'll meet you two there" she says. "Okay I'll let claire know and we'll see you" I reply.
Claire raises her eyebrows as she comes back from the dressing room. "I love you too" I reply before hanging up. "What's going on?" She asks. "Meeting sage at the cheesecake factory" I answer.
She nods then her phone starts ringing, guess it's her turn to talk to her partner. "Hey baby" she answers. "Yeah meet us at the cheesecake factory" she adds. "Ok love you too" she replies before hanging up.
"Joseph's meeting us too" she smiles. I can't complain he's great for her, I have a feeling they're gonna be engaged sometime this year they're perfect together. "Awesome! Sage is stopping off at our place to change then she'll be there so we've got a bit" I reply.
After grabbing some Jean's and a few more shirts we finish up and drive over to the cheesecake factory. Sage and Joseph both already there talking.
I happily skip over to sage and hug her "someone's happy to see me" she whispers. I smile nodding "yes I got you a couple shirts! And a little something" I say whispering the last part.
"Oh?" She asks. I nod "yes" I whisper. "You love birds ready to go in?" Joseph asks. I roll my eyes playfully and we go inside.

A couple days go by and I'm at home watching the news cuddling up with the kitten who has grown a bit since sage got him. She didn't tell me until a few days later but he was the anniversary gift. A great one at that.
"The pandemic is officially over! World wide there is less than 100 cases, in the next 2 weeks there will be zero" the new anchor announces. My eyes widen and I smile brightly, we've still been worried about having her family come over incase the cases do rise.
But I think when summer hits we'll have them come visit us. I'm so excited to meet them. They will be my family too some day and I'm excited for that day as well.
A few minutes later sage calls me and I answer "did you see the news?" She asks sounding happy. "Yes! This is amazing babe" I reply. "It is! We can have my parents come visit this summer" she says.
"That's what I was thinking" I reply. I can tell she's smiling "okay I have to go back to work i love you so much" she says. "I love you too" I reply before hanging up.
I look down at Bobby and he's licking his paw. "You hear that Bobby, mommy's parents are gonna come visit" I tell him. He ignores me and continues licking his paw. "Ok son" I joke.
While sage is at work I come up with an idea to host a housewarming party even though we've lived here for a couple months.
To sage: we should have a 'house'warming party/byebye pandemic party
A few minutes later she texts back with a yes so I start figuring out peoples days off and seeing who to invite. We've made a few friends within the LGBTQ community in San Diego so I add a few of them to the list and I leave the rest for when sage gets home.
My phone buzzes again and I raise my eyebrows as i check to see that Joseph is texting me. Weird.
Joseph: are you free for a phone call right now?
I reply with yes and my phone starts ringing a couple minutes later.
"Hey, I know this is weird" he starts. I laugh slightly "just a tad" I reply. "I know you're her best friend so I want your help" he continues.
The confusion increases "with?" I ask. "Oh right! I wanted to propose" he says. I smirk to myself "I knew it would happen this year" I say. He chuckles "how?" He asks. "Well it's been a few years, you live together and you both have a light in your eyes that just brighten when you're around each other, it's the type of love that people write songs about" I answer.
"Really?" He asks. "Yeah, I'm glad she found you" I answer. "What do you need help with?" I ask. "Finding a ring and the proposal, I have an idea of what I wanna do I just need your brain to put it together" he answers.
I laugh slightly at his somewhat compliment "alright my last day off is tomorrow so if you wanna meet to find a ring we can and we can also plan the proposal" I reply. He thanks me and then we hang up. I'm kinda surprised he called and asked me.
Sage comes home awhile later and we stay home and make dinner together, dancing around the kitchen and singing. I couldn't be happier than I am right now.
After dinner we cuddle up on the couch with Bobby and watch a couple movies before going to sleep. "Night love" she whispers behind me pecking my neck. "I love you my love" she whispers again. I snuggle into her and fall asleep peacefully.
