Chapt 39

Starting at the new school was surprisingly not as crazy as I expected it to be. The principle was welcoming and the students are amazing.

Instead of teaching fourth grade I am now teaching third grade and they're even more energetic than the forth graders.

Thanksgiving came and we spent it with claire and Joseph, and my mom and sister, harrison came over as well and we had a lot of fun. We had the whole turkey dinner and then spent the night watching a movie.

Christmas was the same but the morning of we skyped with sage's parents as they opened presents we had sent them and we opened presents they sent us. I got them matching pajamas and slippers, they sent a few of sage's favourite candies and chocolates along with matching cardigans her mom made us. Sage's has a giant S silk patch on the back and mine has a K.

It's now the first week of the year and we're both back to work. Our christmas break this year was amazing, on new years eve we went to the aquarium wearing the cardigans but the week before christmas we set up the tree. It was a drunk chaotic mess but we had a lot of fun, bobby is weirdly scared of it so he stays away.

While I'm finishing cooking dinner the buzzer goes off, "I'll get it!" Sage says running to open the door. Claire and Joseph come in a few minutes later. Weird. "Hey what's up? Wasn't expecting you today" I say side hugging her.

"Shit sorry, we are doing our rounds" claire says. "Rounds? I better be first" I joke. She giggles and then nods "you are" she replies. I invite them in and even offer them some chicken and rice. "We're good we ate before coming here" joseph says.

I nod and sit at the island with them. "So what brings you here?" Sage asks. "We have something to tell you" joseph answers looking at claire. I raise my eyebrows and look between them before looking at claire.

She does look like she has a new look to her, kinda like a glow. "Okay? What is it? Are you moving across the country?" I joke. Claire shakes her head and hands me an envelope.

"Okay this is weird but I'm gonna roll with it" I joke as I open it and pull out the paper. A picture of what looks like a 3 month old fetus. Holy shit. "OH MY GOD" I squeal standing up and pulling her into a hug.

After doing a celebratory dance with everyone we settle down. "Congratulations" I say again. She smiles resting her hand on her stomach "I couldn't wait to tell you but for safety reasons I held back" she says. "She's right, I had to remind her so many times that nobody knew yet" joseph chuckles.

We talk for a little bit before they have to leave. "Maybe one day we'll be pregnant together" I joke. She smiles excitedly "are you gonna try soon?" She asks us. "Maybe once we're engaged" sage answers.

I look at her a little surprised "really?" I ask. She nods "yeah it takes a while for same sex couples to get pregnant so why not plan a wedding and try for a baby at the same time" she shrugs. The other two smile "well I have experience in speedy wedding planning so if you need my help" claire says.

"Ma'am you're gonna be my maid of honour of course you'll help" I say. "You're not even engaged yet calm down" joseph jokes. "Please if they didn't want to have a wedding they'd go down to the court house tomrrow" claire says.

We look at each other and laugh "true!" We say together. Sage's visa ends next year but if we get married before that she can start the process of getting permanent residence here and we can visit her parents.

They leave after giving us hugs and we finish eating dinner. "So what kind of engagement ring do you want?" Sage asks. "Oh um something simple and silver" I answer. "How does a oval diamond sound?" She asks. "Beautiful" I reply.
