Chapter 51: FOUR
Team A kept making close calls with lazing gaurds. When there were too many to get by with killing them, they would cut through a tent onto a smaller road. It was nearly half an hour of this before they made it to the car shed.
"It's locked." Taco said as he kicked the door which was chained shut with three heavy looking padlocks.
"Can't you use the thermal pistol?" Krew said as he scanned the area around them for the orange-robed LSF.
"If I (Italics)had(Italics) the thermal pistol I would have been in this shed already."
"Right..." Krew said, obviously embarrassed.
"Could you shoot the locks off?" Redd said.
"It's dangerous to shoot steel from so close, plus, these are some seriously heavy locks. Nothing short of C4 would take this door down." Taco said, lifting one of the locks up.
"Can we pick them?" Alice said hopefully.
"Worth a shot. Nine, you have lockpicks, right?"
Nine was already coming to the door with two bent pieces of metal the size of a toothpick in hand. "Well I am useful, I'll be damned."
Within five minutes Nine had unlocked two of them but he was having trouble with the final one. He spat an ugly word as his lockpick broke in the lock, making any further attempts at picking it out of the question. Alice now stepped in, telling the team to back away and aiming her rifle into the lock. She flipped the fire rate to fully automatic, and after turning her head away so as to not get a shard of steel in her eye, she held down the trigger until the magazine was empty. To her dismay, the lock still hung, but it promptly fell into the snow after a moment. Alice grinned with triumph as she kicked the door open. Taco grinned at rugged jeeps, complete with large machine guns on many.
All in all, there were eight cars, the most appealing of which was an enlarged, armoured behemoth, painted with white camo rather than the standard grey. This was clearly a captains car, a base general, perhaps.
Taco hopped in and did the old-fashioned flip of the visor trick, where a set of keys fell into his waiting palm with a charming sound.
"Alice, up front with me. Everyone else, get in the back for when the LSF are eventually on us."
"Before we go," Said Krew, who was miserable on account of his broken collarbone. "Maybe this could be helpful?"
He held a massive beast of a rocket launcher over his shoulder, nearly as tall as he was. There was some sort of console near the carrying handle, a computer for targeting, she guessed. Taco grinned at the monstrosity.
"Definitley. Throw it in."
When the team had clambered into the back, Taco laid a Glock pistol onto the dashboard, just in case, and then drove.
