 Chapter 31: MISSION

Alice walked outside of the base, where a helicopter was already waiting, rotors spinning.

"Where did the helicopter come from?!" Alice yelled over the engine to Glass, who was still following her in his wheelchair.

 "The Hangar." He said ominously.

"Let's move! COME ON!" Cole Redd yelled over to them as he boarded the helicopter.

 "What's his problem?" Alice giggled.

"He takes things pretty seriously. The snipers aren't usually the jokers."

 "Right."

"You better get on the helicopter. Good luck Alice. Oh and... Thanks for saving Kendo back there."

"Yeah. No... No problem." Just as she went to go to the helicopter, she turned back towards Jacob, a hollow feeling in her stoumach. "Tell George-"

A voice behind her made a mocking imitation of her own. "That I'll love him forever and forever and-"

Alice whipped around, to see George, in a white shirt spattered with dried blood, peeling off rubber gloves. A surgical mask was around his neck.

"Jesus George! I thought I missed you!"

"So did I. I had just heard from Nine you were headed for The Forest." He threw the gloves over his shoulder. "Nice work on him, by the way. I would have shot him myself if I had found out he'd touched you first." He tore off his bloodstained shirt, revealing a beater. "But I'm a doctor's apprentice, Alice, that was a hell of a job."

 "Sorry George. They both okay?"

"Equally alright, especially Kendo." He pulled her towards him. "I love you babe, be careful, alright?"

Alice nuzzled her face into his chest.

 "Love you George."

They kissed, and the feeling was still as incredible and electric as the first time.

"If you get yourself killed, you're grounded."

 "Grounded?" Alice giggled.

"I'm the dominant one in this relationship." He laughed.

"Okay, now I really have to go." She ran towards the helicopter, staring at her boyfriend.

As she climbed in the helicopter, Redd stared at her with a look of contempt.

 "Quite finished?"

Alice just blushed and mumbled a yes.

"Right. Sit down team, briefing starts now."

He rolled the helicopter door closed as the chopper lifted off the ground.
