"Hyung!?" shouted Kai from his room to Yeonjun, who was the only one in the apartment because Beomgyu was at work filming for the second season. For that reason, the youngest and the oldest were alone.
Yeonjun was standing at the sink refilling the small watering can to continue watering the houseplants when he finally set it down on the kitchen counter and trudged out of the kitchen. "What's wrong?" he asked as he walked down the hall to Kai's room.
The latter looked up at the black-haired man for help. "Do you happen to know where I left my Air Pods?" Spread out in front of him, he had three suitcases that he was gradually filling with his belongings, but none of them contained his clothes. "I can't find them anywhere, I'm afraid," the blond said, though his room didn't even look that untidy.
Yeonjun slowly shook his head. "I don't know where they are," he muttered, leaning against the doorframe, "maybe you left them with Aeri."
After all, the Huening had spent a lot of time at his girlfriend's place, or rather, his ex-girlfriend's, since they hadn't been together for two months now. Kai screwed up his face at the mention. "I hope not, because I don't think she'd answer if I called her."
"Oh dear," Yeonjun agreed and walked into the room, glancing over the suitcases. "Didn't you want to stay friends?"
"Yes I did," the Hawaiian said, slowly scrambling to his feet and plopping down on his bed, "but her feelings were stronger than mine. And she was really mad and hurt when I broke up with her." A sigh escaped the younger man and he rubbed both palms over his jeans.
Yeonjun also sighed sympathetically and dropped onto the nestling's bed. "I don't think it's really possible to stay friends once you were in love, anyway."
Surprised, Kai looked up at the elder. "Are you talking about Taehyun? Because you seem to get along well with Soobin, even though he was the one who had feelings for you." Yet the blue-haired giant and former bed bunny Choi Soobin had long been in a happy relationship with Na Jaemin.
"Yes, but I didn't have feelings for Soobin," the 181-centimeter tall man said, "and I did for Taehyun. That's just the difference. If they both loved each other, how could a normal friendship work? There would always be tension."
