-Uncle Pierre! Uncle Nick!.- They heard the voice of Sophia as soon as they stepped foot in the dining room. Both men smiled at the girl. Just like with everyone else, she had them wrapped around her little finger, and not in a bad way. She also captivated the hearts of these stone cold serious men. When they met her, as well as Howard, they developed a soft spot for the girl.
-Hello, little munchkin.- Said Nick while hugging the girl that ran towards them.
-Bonjour, ma princesse. (Hello, my princess)- Said Pierre as soon as she let go of Nick and went to hug him.
Once the greetings to Sophia and Victoire were done, they sat down and started talking. They spent the afternoon in the garden (Even though it was cold and covered in snow) talking and remembering things, waiting for dinner to be ready. They all watched as Sophia stood up and went to play with her nanny and tried to catch snowflakes in the middle of the garden.
The four adults were each in their own thoughts as they watched the little girl run around the big backyard covered in snow. Antoine was still thinking about the choice he made. Victoire was thinking about how much she was going to miss her baby. Pierre was thinking about ways to make Sophia's stay at Daylight a little more adequate and secure but also still have a little bit of her childhood left to enjoy. Nick was thinking about everything that had happened the day before, everything Toine told them about the criminals and how to ensure that that never happened again.
-Is she going to be alright? Can we visit her someday?.- Victoire's voice pulled everyone out of their thoughts.
-Of course she will be fine. And you will be able to visit her, Vic. She will be at an academy, not in prison.- Said Pierre answering her questions.
-I know, it's just, this is all happening so fast. I thought we were going to have more time. - Victoire was sad, after all her only child was leaving. What seemed to ease her nerves, however, was what Pierre had said. Maybe their visits wouldn't be as regular as she wanted, but they could still see her.
-I did too, but with everything that went on, I'm sure this is going to help.- Antoine's voice finally made a comeback. He was still too deep in thought but he managed to answer his wife.
They all saw Sophia approaching them with a frown on her face. She held in her hands a little bird that had apparently fallen from a tree.
-Qu'est-ce que tu as là, bébé? (What do you have there, baby?).- Asked Victoire while Sophia made it to the table.
-A little bird, he fell from a tree. Can we heal him, mama?.- That's one of the qualities that everyone loved about Sophia. She was always willing to help everyone. She helped everyone. Or at least she tried to everytime she could. Whether it was an animal, a random person in the street, friends, family, anyone.
-Oui, mon amour, come on. - Victoire stood up and went with Sophia inside the house to help the little creature.
A couple of seconds had passed since Victoire and Sophie left, when one of the maids came to the backyard handing the phone to Antoine.
-Monsieur, vous avez un appel (Sir, you have a call). - The maid left and Antoine answered the phone.
-Hello, pal. - Antoine made a pause while turning to look at Nick and Pierre. - Yes, we will be here all week. Great. Yeah, don't forget it this time. See you soon. Au revoir. - Antoine hung up the phone and left it at the table.
-Who was that?.- Nick asked, not being nosey, but curious. They had to be really careful from now on.
-Just an old pal is coming to visit us in the next few days. - Antoine answered while he and his friends drank a glass of wine.
