After her meeting with King T'Chaka and the council, Sophia was offered a room in the castle to stay for the time being while everything got sorted out. At first, she denied, saying that she was fine and that she could stay somewhere outside the castle, but the king insisted so she had no option but to agree. In the end, who was she to contradict a king?
Okoye was the one in charge to lead her to her room. Truth be told, she was still worried about everything that went on. There was no way for her to know what to do, or how to get in touch with anyone. She wondered if they were looking for her, for the other teams, for Michael.
Just after what felt like half an hour walking through the hallways of the palace and the interminable doors that Sophia had no idea where they led, they finally stopped in front of a big wooden door with engraved patterns in the wood and a few details in metal.
-This will be your room for the time being, Ingelosi Yokukhanya.- Okoye said while opening the door for her. Sophia stepped inside the room and the first thing she saw was the huge window on the other side of the room. It had a view of the valley and mountains of Wakanda, the sun just illuminating it in a beautiful way.
-Thank you, Okoye.- Sophia said while turning to look at her.
-Of course. You will be provided with clothes tomorrow, but for now, you will find sleeping clothes in the wardrobe, along with undergarments for now. The bathroom has everything you will need. I'll come pick you up tomorrow at 7:30 so you can be shown around.- Okoye said while looking at Sophia and giving her a nod.
-Okay. Thank you again, for everything.- Okoye just nodded once again to Sophia and left the room.
Sophia turned around to see the room more carefully. She saw a big bed in the middle of the room, white and brown sheets and pillows covering it. The headboard was made of wood and brown cloth. Two nightstands on either side of the bed. On the opposite side of the bed, was a desk with a chair and a lamp. On the side of the wall, was a boudoir, with things for her to use. She assumed it might be like a bag of make-up and toiletries.
The other wall had two doors, one led to a big bathroom and the other to a walk-in closet that was empty for now, save for the pajamas and other stuff Okoye had mentioned.
Sophia looked around in awe, it was a really beautiful room. It was spacious and really nice. The light that came in was just perfect. After taking everything in, she approached the window and realized it had a door that led to a balcony. Sophia got out through that door and stood there still, looking at the beautiful landscape that Wakanda had to offer her.
She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She felt the gentle breeze caressing her face, messing her hair and blowing it out of her face. The air was pure, you could almost smell the pace and calm that emanated from the ground of this country. For a moment, she felt like she was dreaming, like everything was just a perfect dream, just way too good to be true.
After a few more seconds, she opened her eyes. A sense of peace overwhelming her senses. This was the first time Sophia felt relaxed and truly calmed and at peace in a really long time. The last time she felt this peace was her last weekend with her family all those years ago.
Since the incident, she hadn't had the chance to have a proper day of peace and quiet. Everything was just missions, training, missions, training. She would have a couple of days to rest, but that was it.
She was just 19 and she was already doing things you could never imagine. She hadn't had the chance to enjoy her life and teenage years as much as she had wanted to. Maybe this couple of days in Wakanda would be her escape, maybe this could be the little vacation she deserved after everything she had gone through.
