Third person POV. May 1997

As months went by, Sophia was becoming indeed one of the best agents at Daylight. If not the best. Everyone was satisfied with her performance in everything she was told to do. They saw how hard she was working to get where she wanted. It was not about wanting to be the best because of an ego thing, but because she thought and knew that if she was, she was going to be able to take down the bad guys and do good in the world.

Her main goal now was to protect people in the future, help them and end the evil that lived among us in the world.

Every day and almost every month in Daylight was spent doing the same. Waking up, having breakfast, training, target practice, classes, sparring, hand to hand combat, ballet, sleeping, and then again. Not much changed with the daily routine. At least with the order of things. Sometimes it changes when it comes to learning something new everyday. Which they did.

One day, they were all learning about world leaders, the other they were learning about global economy and development, and the next they were learning about wars, conflicts and what caused them. It was a sociology class, per say.

Today was a day to learn about World War II. Something that Sophia loved. Not the war itself, of course. But the history behind it. She loved everything behind the historical side of it, mostly because her dad told her stories about it and how it was for him.

He told her stories about him and Howard, how they were recruited by the SSR (now SHIELD), how while Howard made weapons and artifacts to help them win the war, her father did machinery with new technology, scientific experiments and research on the other side. He told her about Dr. Erskine, a great mentor and friend for him and Howard. Also about Colonel Phillips and lets not forget Aunt Peggy.

One of the reasons why Sophia was okay and liked being at Daylight, was because of her Aunt Peggy, the strongest and most fearless woman she had ever met. She wanted to be just like her, in every way. She was one of the first (if not the first) female agents in the SSR, she helped her father, uncle Howard and Colonel Phillips to found SHIELD, the organization that now her uncle Nick was a part of since 1989.

She loved hearing stories from her uncles and her father about how they worked together and how they took down the bad guys.

Also, let's not forget about her admiration for Captain America and the Howling Commandos. Her father always told her stories about them every time he could. That's how she became an expert in these subjects. Hearing her father say how he helped create Captain America's shield, suit and how he designed and created the super soldier's motorbikes was something that she loved to hear almost every time.

She grew up wanting to meet him, but not being able to. She knew that he died trying to land a plane in the Arctic after he defeated Johann Schmidt,, better known as "Red Skull", and took down Hydra with the help of the Howling Commandos. She wished to have known him, she knew she would've liked him. He was also one of her idols. She heard stories about him from aunt Peggy. She knew aunt Peggy was in love with him, Peggy also told her that herself. It broke Sophie's heart to see how that love story would never be able to happen.

She also wished to have met the Howling Commandos, the other friends of her dad. She had heard stories from all of them. Her dad told Sophia that the members of the squad used to treat him like a little brother, given that he was the youngest of them all.

She heard about a nice Dum Dum Dugan, sassy Jim Morita, a strong and smart James Montgomery, a funny Gabe Jones, a clever and explosives expert Jacques Dernier (who also happened to be french) and a flirty, strong and brave James Buchanan Barnes.

Besides loving Steve's story, she also loved Sergeant Barnes' story, it was one of her favourites as well. Hearing everything he went through; since the 107th was captured by HYDRA in Azzano, all the way to his death in 1945, where he fell from a train when he and Steve were trying to capture Schmidt's accomplice, Dr. Zola. Sophia hated that man with all her heart. She saw James Barnes as a war hero, and she always thought he deserved better.
