Lia's Point of View

Nandito ako sa conference room at tapos na kaming mga newbie sa pagbabahagi ng aming mga reports. Nakatayo si Director Gab sa harapan namin at nag-eevaluate ng mga nagawa namin para sa nagdaang mga linggo ng pananatili namin dito sa news network. He even ranked us based on how many tasks we took. And guess what?

I am eighth.

Pinakakulelat sa aming department.

I know that this is because of what happened last time. Producers and other directors don't want to take me because they thought that I might do the same mistake. But I do my best in every opportunity I have.

Kaya ako ang nagrank one sa ratings ng mga netizens na satisfied sa reports ko. The challenge to me is to gain their trust back.

Hindi ko alam kung paano ko ito gagawin pero ang mahalaga, alam ko na kung saan ako mahina at malakas. I know where to improve and maintain my strength, then later on, take a step toward my goals.

Naupo si Director Gab sa harap matapos niyang magdiscuss at ipaliwanag sa amin ang team meeting.

"Now, let's proceed to pace two." he seriously said. "Your first two weeks are just your warm up paces, wala na akong sinabi na iba tungkol dito because I want to know how you respond to the next stage. Well, it is as easy as piece of cake, don't worry." he said before he smirk.

Napatingin ako kay Aya nang mapansin na naginginig ang kamay niya mula sa tabi ko. Hinawakan ko ang kamay niya bago bumulong.

"Ayos ka lang?"

Tumango lang siya kaya naman wala akong nagawa kung hindi ang humarap na lang ulit kay Director Gab.

"I am going to assign tasks to you now. Whenever there is a time, take the assigned task to you rather than an ordinary news. This is based on how you performed and impressed me. And remember, this stage is called 'quit if you can't'."

Could it be that hard? Title pa lang ng stage, kinikilabutan na ko. Sanay kami na mabait ang direktor sa amin. Kaya alam kong lahat kami ay kinakabahan maliban lang kay Aliza. She is very confident as always.

"Let's start with Aliza, since ikaw ang nagrank one sa may pinakmaraming tasks. I noticed that you are only accepting the news reports that is favored to your appearance. Mostly, featuring magazines, beauty product endorsers, and such, sa mga ganong news ka lang lumalabas. This stage, I am assigning you to news that are related to our environment. Focus on the flood of garbages, river of mud--"

"Sir! Bakit sa akin nyo yan iaassign? Mas magaling ako sa field ng showbiz and endorsment--"

"That is my point, lahat kayo, dapat matutunan niyong gawin ang bawat field ng trabaho ninyo. Kailangan mapakinabangan kayo sa lahat ng balita na pwede nating ibahagi. For example, matanggap ka for regular, sino na ang magbabalita tungkol sa lagay ng panahon? All of you should learn how to be independent and flexible on every part of our community, did you get my point?"

Yumuko si Aliza bago tumango. I get the point of the director. Tama siya, dapat wala kaming pinipili sa trabaho namin. 

Nagpatuloy ang direktor sa pag-aassign sa iba pa at wala na ni isa sa kanila ang kumontra. Aya is assigned on a news cover up for celebrities and famous artists. I think she can improve herself by getting engaged to the famous people. Maganda siya at alam kong kaya niyang makipagsabayan sa mga arists sa tv. Pero nahihiya siya kaya sa iba siya nagpo-focus.

Napaisip tuloy ako kung paano ito nalaman ni Director Gab. Binabantayan niya talaga kami? Siya kaya ang magbibgay ng points sa amin kagaya ng napag-usapan dati?

Nagpatuloy siya hanggang sa ako na lang ang bibigyan niya ng assingment. Nakatingin ang lahat sa akin at para bang nasasabik sila na malaman kung saan ako ilalagay ng direktor.

 "And finally, Miss Malia." he paused and sighed. "I am not going to assign you anything. Dismissed."

Lahat kami ay natigilan dahil sa sinabi niyo. Kumunot ang noo ko dahil dito. Ang lahat ay nagtataka rin sa sinabi niya.

"Sir!" tawag ko sa kanya nang tumalikod na siya sa amin. Nagpatuloy ako sa pagsasalita ng muli siyang humarap sa amin. "Pwede ko po bang malaman kung bakit hindi niyo ako bibigyan ng assignment na kagaya nila? Dahil po ba ako ang rank eight? O dahil hindi po ako qualified para sa second stage ng mga newbies?"

Ayokong isipin na binibigyan niya ako ng special treatment na hindi ko alam na dahilan. Gusto ko ring malaman ang totoo mula sa kanya kaysa mag-isip ng kung ano. 

"Ah, within two weeks, you just had covered every type of news I discussed. Ikaw pa lang ang nakagawa non ever since the GKN news network started for decades. Congratulations to you. And if you want to have an assignement then, sa night shift ka starting next week for the whole week. That's all."

Night shift...

Kaasar! Dapat hindi na ako nagtanong!

Ang alam ko, mas madali ang night shift dahil mas konti ang mga coverage sa gabi. Pero iniisip ko ang anak ko. Wala siyang kasama sa bahay. Anong gagawin ko?

Trevor's Point of View

I am packing up my things and putting them in my locker. When my things are set up, lumabas na ako at nagpunta sa kotse ko. I drove safely on my way back home.

My shift is over and I didn't bother to buy breakfast. I'm sure that my brother has cooked something, he should.

I parked my car on the resident's spot and took the elevator to get in my unit. I entered the unit while shaking my head.

My brother's shoes and uniform are on the floor. This messy doctor really gets inyo my nerves.

"Good mornight, Trev!" he greeted while preparing the table.

I ignored him and took a shower. He is the worst room mate after all.

Lumabas kaagad ako pagkatapos at kumain ng breakfast sa living area. I opened the tv and watched news.

I froze when I saw Miss Constancia on the news at this hour. I don't usually see her on morning reports, that's why.

"Do you know her, bro?" Travis asked. I just shrugged my shoulders and continue eating. "I know her secret."

He caught my attention. What does he mean by that? Lumingon ako sa kanya at hindi nagpahalata na intereasdo ako sa news reporter sa tv. I just found myself wanting to watch news because of her.

It's been few nights after I saw her that night that we had gone undercover. And I really felt everything she said. She is very strange to me. Why does it feel like she knows something about me? Something about her is affecting my system for an unknown reason.

"I won't tell you unless you give me your new car." he dared. 

Muli akong humarap sa tv para ipaalam sa kanya na hindi ako interesado kahit na hindi yon ang sinasabi ng isip ko.

"Haha, that's something na kapag may ibang nakaalam, siguradong matatanggal siya sa GKN. Knowing dad, siguradong hindi siya papayag na magtrabaho pa sa kanya si Malia kahit na gaano pa siya kagaling."

I lost my focus after I heard him say that. He never joked something that is related to other people's business. And I know how serious his voice is.

What could it be that dad would get mad about? Should I warn her?
