"From now on I must struggle with the world."
———————————————————————

Ango rushes through the streets, the rain patting down on him and soaking his coat. He entered the bar through the doors. The smoke permeating the premises immediately filled his lungs.

Ango wiped some of the water droplets from his glasses and walked down the stairs, where he noticed (Y/N) sitting at the counter, fiddling with a glass with her fingers. This young girl spends half of her time here. She orders a drink but does not touch it, instead staring solemnly at it.

"Afternoon, (Y/N). How are you doing?" Ango inquired and took a seat next to her. "I heard you raided an organization today, how did that go?"

He received no response.

"She had a long day," Oda says quietly as he enters the bar, and Ango returns his gaze to the (Y/N) who raised her head. Her visible eye is bloodshot, and the bandages covering her opposite eye appear damp.

Ango has never seen her look so worn out.

Oda situated himself besides the girl and sighed. "From what I heard, the organization she raided had more soldiers then expected. It was impossible for her to call backup but she managed, barley." He elaborated.

Ango gave the girl a worried look. "Didn't Nakahara-san accompany you?"

(Y/N) groaned and slammed her head against the wooden counter. "This was a solo mission, he did not come with me." She speaks with her face pressed against the desk.

"Ah," Ango mumbled. "Well, as long as you're all right, that's all that matters."

"Mhm..." she said, her words clumsy and slightly slurred due to the lag in her brain. She paused to gather her thoughts. Her mouth had a bitter, filmy taste to it. "How about you two? What did you do today?"

"Well..." (Y/N) completely blanked out when Ango started talking. Don't get her wrong, she wasn't trying to be rude, but the fog in her brain made it too misty and cloudy to focus on anything at all.

Ango snapped his fingers on her face, causing the girl to jolt up a bit. "Hey, are you listening to me?"

"Yeah. I hear you." She mumbled, head in hands.

"Well? What do you think?"

She blanked out again, her gaze fixed on the strange patterns on Ango's tie. "Uh huh, yeah, that'd be...awesome."
