"I found myself wondering why I had once been a human being...How can others understand what I feel? They cannot—unless they have experienced the very same thing."
—————————————————————————

The boy was bathed in the splendor of the moonlight, and as the light reflected off of something that was hanging about his neck, a thought occurred to (Y/N). She softly wrapped her hands around the boy's neck and leaned forward till their foreheads were in contact with one another. She told Atsushi that she had faith in him while keeping her eyes closed. Words that she wished both this Atsushi and her own Atsushi would keep in their memories forever. After that, she unfastened the collar and let it fall on the ground before the boy could object to what she had done.

(Y/N) witnessed a sight of déjà vu when she saw the youngster transform into the luminous beast against his will as the moonlight illuminated the scene. The only difference is that this time, (Y/N) did not move so much as a muscle as the beast neared her. She closed her eyes and allowed
herself to be consumed by the deafening din that was resonating in her ears. The final sound that she had the pleasure of hearing, as she had secretly wanted.

She wished Atsushi knew, just how precious he was. In every world. She hoped he knew how important he was. To everyone. And to (Y/N) especially.

Before (Y/N)'s world has ceased from existence, she heard Atsushi's gravely voice one last time.

"Until we meet again, Port mafia boss, (L/N)
(Y/N)."

————

(Y/N) jolted awake covered in a clammy sweat. The sound of Atsushi's roar was still ringing in her ears, and it was still so loud and prominent that the girl had a brief momentary illusion that she was still in that world. But the familiar feeling of the hard floor beneath her futon told her she was back. And suddenly there was only one other thing she could think of doing.

Before she knew it, (Y/N) was pounding furiously on the door of the room that was located just down the hall from hers. She knocked and she knocked, persistently until a very grumpy white haired boy answered the door.

"(Y/N)-san," Atsushi greeted, attempting to rub the sleep from his eyes, "you're going to wake the entire building with that knocking. What do you want—"

But before Atsushi could finish his question, he was abruptly pulled into a tight embrace by (Y/N), who showed no sign of letting go of her hold on him.

'I don't want to let him go.'

(Y/N) thought. As she smelled Atsushi's chamomile scented shampoo and held him closer.

'I don't want to use him. He is important to me. I
want to be better for him.'

And as she felt Atsushi stiffen in her arms, clearly shocked from (Y/N)'s hold on him, (Y/N) thought about how much she despised the stiffness. Atsushi's lack of familiarity with being in her arms. She wished for Atsushi to become accustomed to the feel of her touch. Her affectionate and tender touches.
