"Death may no longer be so far away."
————————————————————————Days off weren't exactly rare, but weren't common either. Contrary to popular belief, the two halves of Soukoku, being the boss' strongest asset, were permitted to just take days off whenever they wanted, no matter what other people thought.
When they weren't in the midst of the bloodshed and carnage, (Y/N) and Chuuya could be found back at Chuuya's apartment doing god knows what. They'd started 'hanging out' whenever (Y/N) claimed that she had absolutely nothing to do and just wanted to piss off Chuuya for whatever reason. Eventually, it turned into them seeing each other regularly even when they had other things they could be doing, though they would both rather die than acknowledge the fact that they were going out of their way to see each other.
So it wasn't uncommon for them to find themselves inside Chuuya's apartment on a Saturday night, they both had a day off the day after and (Y/N) stormed into Chuuya's bedroom, telling him that she would ruin his day so badly to the point that the redhead would wake up in a sour mood on their day off.
Chuuya had a normal looking bedroom, it was quite nice, actually. If you didn't know him, you probably would assume that a typical teenage boy inhabited his room. The room's walls were white, and the large window that was situated directly above his bed had these dark-colored translucent curtains on each side of it. The carpeted flooring was soft and comfortable, and he had a deep crimson duvet covering his bed, along with pillows that matched. The wall that was closest to the door was fitted with a desk and an office chair, and it was also tastefully adorned with stationary and even a fake plant pot.
His walls were covered in string lights, which gave off a warm glow and helped to brighten up the otherwise dim room. A number of photographs were arranged in a collage and hung on the wall adjacent to his bed. Some of them were of his friends, The Flags, they were called. Some were of him and Kouyou, and others were of just him.
(Y/N) didn't understand the point of having decorative images on walls when she was the only one who'd look at them. Or it's possible that she simply wasn't getting what the big deal was about them. She'd never been a sentimental person. She had previously questioned Chuuya about these matters, but the older one would simply respond with something along the lines of, 'It looks nice, and I like it.'
Aside from that, the two were sitting in his room, laying on his bed. They'd do this frequently, just staying in his bedroom talking about who knows what. The most random and unrelated topics imaginable would eventually find their way into their discussions. Conversing the events of the day, the people they had encountered, the number of nuts that could fit in the mouth of a squirrel, whether or not Elise was older than Mori, and anything else.
(Y/N) wasn't used to this warm feeling in her chest. She had never been comfortable with touching other people, it felt wrong. Her skin would buzz and succumb to numbness under someone's touch, no matter how much she wanted to feel it. But right now, with her back pressed up against Chuuya's headboard, the boy with his head on (Y/N)'s thigh, it felt right. Natural, even. Almost like everything (Y/N) had lived for had come up to this moment.
