"It is difficult to forgive the beast in any way"
———————————————————————

Tonight's rain has an ominous feel to it. The storm must be severe enough to knock away all of the pedestrians' umbrellas, but it must also be cruel enough to cause the human presence on the streets to dwindle as time goes on, as demonstrated by the clock.

In his study, the man is completely unaware of what is going on around him, his back ramrod straight and glasses perched on the bridge of his nose. He is typing meticulously and his eyes are burning with extraordinary concentration. If he continues to work on the reports till the wee hours of the morning, he will exhaust himself. It's not an uncommon occurrence, but tonight seems to be the night when he won't be able to enjoy the pleasure of immersing himself in his own thoughts. Because—

"Waaah, Ango-san, it's incredible how focused you can be when you are working."

"(Y/N)?!" Ango sputters, flinching. "B-but—how did you—the office door is—"

"Locked?" yawns the girl, who appears out of nowhere on the stool across from the desk, "You should have better security if you think that was something called 'locked'." She jerks her thumb towards the door that is ajar and yawns again, sighing. "It's past eight at night, Ango. Why are you still slaving away in this dank, dreary environment you call an office?"

Ango narrows his eyes, immediately returning to the task at hand. For a man who doesn't get enough sleep, he does exceptionally well at multitasking, which is defined as being able to work on documents while also having a conversation with (Y/N) at the same time. "Because work is work no matter what time of day it is or how many hours have passed. If you wish to annoy someone, you could go to Odasaku or Nakahara-kun for that matter—"

"Chuuya has my number blocked and Odasaku isn't picking up."

"That's only because I knew you were going to be here."

(Y/N) instantaneously brightens at the sound of Oda's voice, who has just ducked into the office, shaking off a dripping wet umbrella. Ango's eyes follow the drops of water splattering all over the polished floors and his face falls, because God, why?

"Odasaku, please help me convince Ango here to take the night off!"

"T-take the night off?" the agent looks as if he's been socked in the torso. "My current task is to complete three additional batches of documents that require proofreading. After that, submit the yearly rep—"

"Aaah! What kind of ear murder is this?!" (Y/N) whines a little too loudly and starts packing up all the things on the desk into Ango's bag. "Maybe you're brain needs a little holiday vacation so that you can come back in contact with the real world."
