"I can only bow to the will of the heaven, but not to the will of these men."
———————————————————————With blankets spread on a cold concrete roof and a clear night sky, all three of them were pressed closer to one another than ever before.
Ango couldn't remember how the idea of stargazing had initially come about, leisurely activities outside of Bar Lupin seemed so unlike them, and yet there seemed something almost natural about being pressed close to (Y/N)'s side, an arm resting behind her neck brushing against Oda who lay on (Y/N)'s other side.
"Hey Ango," (Y/N) said, as if to read her friend's thoughts. She tilted her head slightly, her gaze breaking from the sky to glance over at Ango. She seemed unfazed by how close they were, meeting his eyes so easily that Ango almost had to be the one to look away, out of pride, he didn't. "You give off the impression that you are the type of person who is knowledgeable about stars. What are we looking at here?" Ango gave a tiniest hint of a smile in response to the query, or perhaps it was more of a knowing smirk.
"The stars? As in constellations?" Ango replied, his voice low and quiet.
Sounds of shuffling could be heard coming from the opposite side of the blanket, which indicated that Oda was attempting to get comfortable. Unlike Ango, he was more used to this sort of thing. Although refusing to label his relationship with (Y/N) as anything more than a close acquaintance, it was no secret that the two of them had spent a night together like they were inseparable father and daughter.
"Constellations, that's what they're called," (Y/N) replied in confirmation. The little smile had yet to leave her face, widening if anything as she felt Oda shift against her.
Ango pulled himself from (Y/N)'s almost enticing gaze and turned his attention back to the night sky. He moved his eyes for a moment across the stars, which appeared to him to be scattered and devoid of any meaningful shape or pattern. "Then no, I'm afraid I don't know all that much about them."
(Y/N) seemed unbothered, looking back up as well so all three of them had their eyes fixed upwards. "What about you, Odasaku?" She asked after a moment. "Do you know what we're looking at?"
"Nope," Oda replied. "But aren't constellations just shapes you see in the stars?"
"Sort of," Ango responded. "I've heard that most of them have meanings. And some of them date back as far as history will tell us."
"But they really are just star shapes aren't they?" (Y/N)'s voice was distant all of a sudden as if she'd already lost herself in the immense space that loomed over them. She seemed to like the way Oda put it, and through the unseen flicker in her expression, it was clear that gears were turning in the back of her mind.
