"Would you like to tell me what happened?"
Halos magsalubong ang kilay ko habang pinagmamasdan ang mag-aama. Hindi ako makapaniwala sa nadatnan sa eskwelahan ng ipatawag ako ng principal.
"Wife…"
"Don't you call me wife Ares! Nakakahiya, I cannot believe this!"
Halos mahimatay ako ng makarating sa eskwelahan. Ares was fighting with our kids classmate's father.
"Mom, it was Marlon's fault, he said na ampakit ng drawing ko k-kaya…."
"Kaya?"
Taas kilay na tanong ko kay Abi.
"H-hinampas ko po sa kanya yung sketchbook ko."
Muntik ng umikot ang paningin ko. It was not just a simple sketchbook, it was a 500 page kaya sobrang kapal non.
"Malon has a twin, Mark. He pushed Abi, that's why ...."
Kay Alijh naman lumipat ang atensiyon ko.
"I pushed him too."
Lumingon ako kay Asher na sira ang suot na salamin.
"What happened to you Asher, tingnan niyo pati ang kuya niyo nadadamay sa pinaggagawa niyo…."
"Actually I punched Malon's friend's mom."
Tuluyan na akong napaupo sa sofa at napasapo na lang sa noo.
"Well, they were three, pinagtutulungan nila sila Abij, I cannot hold my temper especially when my siblings are being hurt with other people…."
"Okay fine, sige kayo mga bata pa naiintindihan ko. Ikaw Ares, ikaw ang magpaliwanag sa naabutan ko sa principal office, are you aware that your kids got kicked out because of what you did."
"Wife, let's just build our own school for our kids…."
"Stop! I told you to explain and not give me suggestions Ares."
Naghagikgikan ang mga anak namin kaya masama ko silang tiningnan.
"Wife…."
"Stop calling me wife Ares."
"Baby…."
I glared at him. He heaved a sigh.
"I'm sorry, but I'm not sorry of what I did, the man were talking bul*h…" I glared at him again…"I mean, the man was talking harshly with our kids, you know me Astra, I even did not raise my voice to them, how can I let someone to.."
Ako naman ang nagbuntong hininga.
"What I want you to realize is never use violence against someone, regardless of what they've done to you, always choose to be kind. Ares, you're the one who should discipline our kids, next time don't show that kind of you to them."
Agad akong tumayo at tinalikuran sila. Bago ako tuluyang makaalis ay naramdaman ko na ang yakap nila mula sa likod ko.
"Okay wife, sorry, hindi na mauulit."
"Sorry po mommy."
Maya maya ay humiwalay sila sa akin.
"Let's go to Malon's house and apologize personally."
I secretly smile.
"I love you."
Ares whispers after kissing my cheeks. I waved them goodbye.
We're not a perfect family, but at least we're trying to be better.
