It was night time in Hosu city, and the train had just arrived at its destination. Kokoro was shaken awake by Iida who was interning with her and the telepath gave him a quick 'thanks' before gathering her things and hero suit. Even though the green haired girl had a slight rest on the train, that didn't cure her of her tiredness. Swarms of new thoughts of new people made their way into her head, making the girl groan and put in her earbuds to try and avoid it.
"Hajime." Iida interrupted. "If we're going to be working together then I think we should get to know each other more." The navy haired boy suggested. The mind reader internally groaned, she already knew everything about Iida just by a quick glance, and she didn't want him to know everything about her.
"No thanks." She simply answered.
'Thats strange, I thought that she'd be dying to make new friends? Maybe she's just tired?'
"But this will be a great opportunity to get to know a classmate, we could even become great friends." Iida smiled.
"I'll pass, I already know enough about you." Kokoro said with a stoic face.
'What does that mean?' He thought.
After a while, the two made it to Manuals agency who was stoked about having two top scorers in the sports festival interning with him. "Hey there, I'm pro hero Manual, at your service." He beamed when they rang the doorbell.
"Good evening manual, we are here to intern with you." Iida replied while waving around his arm.
"Kokoro Hajime and Tenya Iida." The telepath elaborated.
"Yeah I remember." Manual added, but on the inside he was thinking 'shoot I forgot that was today.'
Kokoro tried to hold back a laugh and they followed manual to their temporary rooms. "I'm sorry to cut this short but I've been on the train for a while and I'm pretty tired, can we do this tomorrow?" She requested.
"A hero doesn't just give up because they're tired, make that your first lesson." The pro countered.
"Since whens giving a tour of the agency got anything to do with heroing." She muttered to herself and began to follow Manual for a tour.
"It's a pretty amateur agency but it's still got potential." The hero explained as he showed them the rooms. "I'm surprised we got interns, especially you guys."
Kokoro scoffed and crossed her arms. "Wasn't exactly my first choice." She said under her breath.
'I thought UA kids would have some manners but this girl keeps muttering and I can guarantee it's nothing polite. Come to think of it, maybe I should have just let her go to sleep, if she's going to be this cranky then it would be best. Besides, with those eye bags it looks as though she hasn't slept in days.' She heard the pro think and rolled her eyes.
"Manual you do realise what my quirk is?" She asked him, hoping he would regather the information himself.
'Huh what does she mean?'
"I'm a telepath, sir." She communicated with the hero.
Manual put his hand over his mouth in shock before bowing down to apologise. "I'm so sorry, I completely forgot you could read my mind." Hajime s eyes widened, manual was too stressed about the telepath reading his mind that he hadn't thought twice about calling out her quirk.
"Well cats out of the bag now, it's in your best intentions not to tell anyone." She threatened the navy haired boy behind her.
'She could read my mind this whole time, you mean she knew? How long has she known about my plan? Is she reading my mind right now?" The boy rapidly thought.
"Yes, yes, from the start and yes." She said while counting up the questions on her fingers. Manual stared at her in confusion, wondering what questions she was answering and the teen just shrugged.
"Ok then. Well the tour is basically over, as I said, there isn't much here yet. So why don't you two get some rest, I want you up and ready to go by 6." Manual instructed the aspiring heroes.
"Yes sir." Iida quickly responded as they walk to their new rooms.
"If you know what I'm about to do then don't try and stop me, you'll only get yourself hurt." The navy haired boy warned.
"How considerate of you, but I don't plan on letting you get yourself killed." She scoffed.
'I'm not the one who's going to die' the boy thought, forgetting Kokoro could hear him loud and clear.
"I've been gathering info on the hero killer for a while now and from what I gathered, he's not going to think twice about killing you." She warned. "Stain has his own ideology, it's twisted, but I can see where he's coming from. He kills 'fake' heroes, the ones that are only in it for fame, money, revenge, or any unheroic qualities. He spared your brothers life because he saw a true hero, but since your brother tried to go against him, he was taken out of the picture. When Stain finds out you want to kill him, he will believe that you aren't a true hero and he won't care of your age, you'll die." The telepath communicated.
"I'm not trying to justify the hero killers actions in any way, but by going out there to try and kill him, you're only giving him more reasons not only to kill you, but to kill others too. You're putting so many people in danger for a selfish agenda."
"It's not selfish! I'm doing it for Tensei! To avenge him!" Iida practically yelled.
"No need to shout, I can hear your thoughts just fine. But wouldn't your brother want to prioritise your safety? By going on your little detour, you'll die, I doubt your brother will be thankful for a meaningless death. Hell, he wouldn't be happy if you die full stop. You say you're doing this for him, but it's not what he would want." Kokoro convinced.
Tenya Iida didn't respond well to the harsh dose of reality and he instantly went into his room and slammed the door, not wanting nor having any idea how to respond to the mind reader. Hajime just sighed, she knew her words would talk a little sense into him but he was still going to try and kill stain regardless, he'd already made up his mind.
With a lot still on her mind, the telepath decided to start doing a few press-ups to keep in good shape. In a way, she was doing to to relieve some of her stress, but it was also a way to keep her awake so she could listen to Iida's thoughts. It was highly invasive but can you blame her? The girls classmate was about to attempt murder, it was in her best interests to prevent that from happening.
'Hajime's known everything from the beginning, that means it'll be highly difficult to sneak away from manual. I'll have to wait for a distraction.' The boy thought from the room next to her.
"Iida, it's reckless and you'll end up dead. Don't do it." She telepathically scolded.
'Get out of my head Hajime.' He thought, trying to stop Kokoro from listening in.
"No thank you."
With time, and with a lot of tormenting towards the navy haired boy, the two teens managed to fall asleep and Iida had given up on trying to hide his plan from the mind reader. He had come to accept that she wasn't going to just let him walk away, however, it was still her duty as a hero in training to help others, meaning she couldn't always be by his side to stop him.
Authors note: Sorry I haven't updated this story in a while, to be honest, I kinda forgot about it. But anyways here's a chapter, enjoy :)
