Chapter 33: Change

Korra decided to go and stay at the Earth Kingdom while she tries to move on. It's too painful to see that your ex-girlfriend dating your ex-suitor. Wow, what a life. Although it also hurts to leave your friends in the city but all she wanted to do is to fix herself first before she face them all. I hope Tenzin found my letter. Korra thought. She didn't know that her polar bear dog followed her and lost the letter. Now everyone in the temple was panicking because they Don't know where Korra is. The three air bender kids together with Bolin started to find her with a sky bison. Well Tenzin and the others can't seek help from the police because the city still don't know that the avatar finally arrived in Republic City. They just waited for Bolin and the three to come back. And wished they have a wonderful news as they're back.

The fire bender froze in his place as he heard the words came out in the mouth of the heiress. "Korra.. S-She's my ex-girlfriend." The CEO looked down and cried quietly. Mako came back to reality when he heard Asami's small sobs. He quickly hugged the heiress. Not romantically but just a friendly hug. Like the old times.

"It's okay. I'm sorry I didn't noticed it early." Mako said sincerely. Asami returned the embrace and cried in his shoulder.

"T-Thank you." the heiress said.

"But first, tell me why you broke up." Mako said confused. The non-bender released from the hug.

"It's because she didn't tell me she was a bender nor the avatar. I asked her the first time we hangout as friends but she said No. Then I'll just saw her fighting criminals using the four elements. That's why I broke up with her. Even though it really hurt me. I had to do it for my mother. I promised her." Asami explained.

"Yes. You had the right to get mad but... What about us? Bolin and I were benders. Why didn't you hated us?" Mako asked.

"Because you two are my best friends. We're friends since my mother's still alive. I know you're not the same as the benders who killed my mom." The CEO exclaimed and cried harder. The fire bender wiped off her tears and touched her shoulder.

"But Korra is the Avatar. Master of Four Elements, Protector of the people. Do you think she's the same with that benders who killed your mom?" Mako explained, trying to hit the heiress' conscience.

"She thought we're lovers. And she let you go because she thought you were happy with me. Don't you think it's a true and pure love? Risking your own happiness for the sake of your loved one. Asami, look inside your heart. I know you still love Korra. You know there's still a space for her in your heart. If you really love her, don't be afraid. Let go of your fears and shout out to the world that you love the avatar. Any mother will be proud of her daughter if she do that." Mako said. He's like talking to his own sister because of his brotherly advice. Asami smiled and hugged him. "Thank you. For everything." She whispered on the fire bender's ear. Mako just smiled and hugged her back.

After Six Months....

"Dadddd! K-Korra's backkkk!" Ikki yelled as she and her siblings ran towards Korra and hugged her. The avatar's face were emotionless. She just let out a small smile on her lips. Everyone rushed to her and gave her a big hug.

"Welcome home." Tenzin said and hugged Korra. the avatar rolled her eyes and broke her mentor's hug.

"Enough of that Tenzin. I'm tired." Korra said coldly with annoyance in her voice as she left and went inside the temple.

"What happened to her? She changed a lot. Inside and out." Bumi said confused. Korra's appearance also changed. Her long and beautiful hair was gone. It was cut off to her shoulders. She's also wearing different clothes. That obviously came from the Earth Kingdom.

"Dad, is she mad at us because we didn't found her? We tried our best!" Meelo exclaimed and pouted.

"No, son. Let's give her some time." Tenzin said although he,too, was worried that the Korra they knew was gone.
