Chapter 41: The Shocking Truth

It's been a few days since the emotional encounter between the Avatar and the CEO. Korra decided to just go home in the South Pole because it seems she needs to move on again. Asami tried to forget about what happened by locking herself up again. Like she did three years ago. This made her Father more confused what's happening to his daughter. He kept on asking the brothers about it but of course, Mako and Bolin always says that they don't know anything about it. Hiroshi seemed not satisfied with the brothers' excuses but he just ignored them and observed his daughter more often.

"Asami? Asami please open the door. We're worried." Bolin said as he and his brother knocked at Asami's room.

"Don't worry about me. I'm fine." Assmi shouted. Bolin looked at his brother. Mako sighed and began to knock again.

"Asami. Come on, you're not eating. Your father's already suspecting." Mako said. Asami sighed and walked over to the door. She slowly opened it and faced the brothers. Bolin and Mako gasped at the sight of the heiress. She looked frustrated and weak. She stared at the brothers then after a few seconds, she collapsed in front of them. Mako managed to catch her.

"Bolin! Tell the driver to prepare the car. We're going to the hospital!" Mako exclaimed. Bolin nodded and ran downstairs as fast as he could. Mako lifted the engineer and followed his brother. He carefully laid Asami at the back seat and sat beside her to accompany her. Bolin told the maids to call her father and tell him what happened. They headed to the hospital and the nurses took Asami in a room. The brothers stayed outside. After a few minutes, the doctor came out.

"Excuse me, are you related to Ms. Sato?" The doctor asked.

"We're her friends. Is she okay?" Bolin said with worried tone. The doctor smiled before he answered.

"Yes. Probably because she didn't eat anything these past few days. And she's so frustrated. But she's okay now. We'll just wait for her to wake up. You may see her if you want." The doctor said. The brothers thanked him and rushed inside of the engineer's room. They found her sleeping peacefully in the bed. But you can still see the frustration in her face. She really looked different without her makeup. But still gorgeous and snazzy as always. Mako stayed beside Asami for almost two hours while Bolin was sleeping in the couch. He was about to cut some apple to eat when the door opened and Hiroshi came in. He worriedly touched Asami's forehead and kissed his daughter's hand. Then he gave Mako a death stare. He walked towards him and grabbed his collar.

"What did you do to my daughter?!" Hiroshi exclaimed but not too loud to prevent Asami to wake up. But Bolin was the one who woke up because of the noise. He was surprised to see Hiroshi threatening his brother.

"We didn't do anything sir! We're just convincing her to eat but she collapsed in front of us." Mako said nervously.

"Y-Yes. He's telling the truth sir. Your daughter collapsed because she's not eating for a few days." Bolin said trying to calm Hiroshi. The Inventor snorted and let go of Mako's shirt. He sighed as he looked them straight in the eyes.

"So, do you mind telling me now why she did that? It's impossible for her to do that without enough reason. You are going to tell me or else... You'll find your own house." Hiroshi said. Mako gasped. He can't say anything about Asami and Korra's relationship. He's not in any position to do that.

"D-Dad.." a small sweet voice said.

"Asami!" Hiroshi said as he rushed beside his daughter.

"A-Are you okay, sweetie? Tell me what do you want. I'll give you anything." Hiroshi said while caressing Asami's head. The CEO just smiled.

"I'm fine dad. Don't threat them. It's my fault. M-My best friend and I had a little fight. But we end up destroying our friendship. Now she's gone." Asami explained trying not to cry. The brothers knew she only said that to protect them. And to hide her relationship with the avatar. Hiroshi calmed.

"Best friend? You didn't tell me you had a best friend." Hiroshi said smiling. Asami tried to sit. And her father helped her.

"Sorry dad. I thought you were too busy for this kind of things." Asami said laughing.

"I'm sorry Asami. Mind to tell me who she was?" The non-bender smiled.

"She was a stubborn, funny, but caring friend." Girlfriend I mean. Asami thought.
"Her name's Korra." Asami said smiling. Reminiscing the happy moments she had when she's with Korra. Hiroshi frowned a little. He thought he'd heard that name before. But he's not really sure. The heiress noticed the silence with her father when she said the avatar's name.

"Dad? Is something thing wrong?"

"O-Oh. It's nothing Asami. Are you hungry? What do you want to eat?" Hiroshi said trying to open a new topic.

"I told you I'm fine dad." Asami said.

"Okay. I'll just ask the doctor about your condition and I will pay the bills. I'll be back later." Hiroshi said as he kissed his daughter's forehead. "Take good care of my daughter." he added turning to the brothers before he left. As the door closed, Hiroshi tried to remember where he heard that name. He forgot but he's very sure that person is important. He rushed to billing section of the hospital and quickly paid Asami's hospital bills. Then he went out to the parking lot and rushed to their house. He headed to his office and browsed his table drawers. He pulled out a small brown envelope and see what it contains. He closed the drawer and rushed to his car. He started the engine and head back to the hospital. He parked his car and ran towards Asami's room at the second floor. He opened the door and found his daughter and the brothers having fun while eating fresh apples. The three looked at him and the brothers stood up as respect.

"Can you leave for us for a second?" Hiroshi said to the brothers calmly. Mako and Bolin exchanged glances but they obeyed the inventor. As the door closed Hiroshi sighed.

"What's the matter dad?" Asami asked confused. Hiroshi didn't answered instead he gave Asami the envelope. The heiress took it confusedly. She looked at her dad as if asking what was that. Hiroshi sighed.

"I think you're ready to see her. She's your fiancé." Hiroshi said. The heiress frowned but she slowly opened the envelope and pulled out the picture of a smiling girl. Asami's eyes went wide. She covered her mouth with her left hand as her tears fell down on her cheeks.
