"You're crazy! Just go away or I'm calling the cops." Michael told as he held the phone up while we stood in the reception area.
"Hang on a second. Just listen to me. You have to believe me ok? This thing came through the window and it attacked your brother. I've seen it. I know what it looks like. Cause it attacked my brother once too." I carefully explained making him slowly hang up the phone.
"This thing...is it...like...it has this long...black robe?" He questioned making me give a nod.
"You saw it last night didn't you?"
"I thought I was having a nightmare."
"I'd give anything not to tell you this but sometimes nightmares are real." I admitted.
"So, why are you telling me?"
"Because we need your help."
"My help?"
"We can kill it. Me, her and him that's what we do. But we can't do it without you." I stated.
"What? No!"
"Michael listen to me. This thing hurt Asher. And it's going to keep hurting kids unless we stop it, understand me?" I told but the only response I got was him staring at us with a horrified look.
"Well that went crappy." I admitted as I paced in our motel room.
"What did you expect? You can't ask a adult to do something like that, much less a kid." Sam pointed out.
"I'm still down for playing kid." Kat admitted before we heard a knock at the door.
I went over and opened the door to see Michael standing there.
"If you kill it, will Asher get better?" He asked.
"Honestly? We don't know." I admitted.
"It's kinda what we hope for." Kat informed.
"You said you were a big brother." He told looking at me and I gave a nod. "You'd take care of your little brother? You'd do anything for him?"
"Yeah I would."
"Me too. I'll help."
I finished hooking up the security camera in the corner of the room, and I starred into the lense, while Kat was making space for her to hide out in the closet. Michael was behind us on his bed and Sam was watching the feed in the other room.
"This camera has night vision on it so we'll be able to see clear as day." I told to Michael before getting a bit louder for Sam to hear. "Are we good?"
"A hair to the right." He told making me adjust the camera. "There, there."
"You don't need to be afraid to ask questions kid." Kat suddenly said shocking him.
"How did you know?"
"I'm psychic. Cuts in and out on peoples thoughts." She admitted.
"What do I do?" He asked making me move to sit next to him on his bed.
"Just stay under the covers." I told.
"And if it shows up?"
"We'll be right in the next room and Kat is gonna hide in the closet just incase we can't get in. We're gunna come in with guns. So as soon as we do you roll off this bed and you crawl under it." I explained.
"What if you shoot me?" He asked making me smirk.
"We won't shoot you. We're good shots. We're not going to fire until you're clear ok? Have you heard a gunshot before?"
"Like in the movies?"
"It's gunna be a lot louder than in the movies. So I want you to stay under the bed, cover your ears, do not come out until we say so. Understand?" I asked making him nod slowly and I could see how scared he looked. "Michael you sure you wanna do this?"
"You don't need be scared to tell us." Kat added as she knelt in front of him.
"You don't have to, it's ok, I won't be mad."
"No I'm ok. Just don't shoot me."
"We're not going to let anything happen to you, I promise you."
Me and Sam were sitting and watching the security camera feed and it seemed to be taking forever.
"What time is it?" I asked.
"Almost 3. Are you sure these iron rounds are gunna work?" Sam questioned.
"Consecrated iron rounds, and yeah it's what Dad used last time."
"Hey Dean I'm sorry." He told confusing me.
"For what?"
"You know, I've really given you a lot of crap, for always following Dad's orders. But I know why you do it."
"Oh, god. Kill me now." I muttered making him smirk.
"Cute moment guys." Kat whispered through her phone that we had hooked up making Sam chuckle.
We began to sit in silence till I noticed something on the monitor.
"Wait, look."
We continued to watch to see movement outside of the window till it began to slide open. Me and Sam carefully picked up our guns but made sure we didn't make too much noise. The Shtriga was now inside Michael's room and stood there watching him.
"Now." Sam whispered.
"Not yet."
The shtriga moved closer and began to lean over the bed, and we could see Michael was terrified but frozen, unable to move. The shtriga leaned closer and opens his mouth, starting to draw Michael's energy. Once we saw that, we quickly rushed up and burst in with Kat bursting out of the closet.
"Hey!" Sam and Kat exclaimed.
"Michael, down!" I ordered.
He quickly rolled off and went under his bed before we opened fire, shooting the Shtriga multiple times each till he fell to the ground.
"Mike, you all right?" I asked.
"Yeah."
"Just sit tight."
I began to approach the shtriga, with my gun at the ready. When I saw he wasn't making any movement, I relaxed slightly and glanced back at Sam and Kat.
"Dean!" Kat exclaimed as she showed a worried look.
Before I could question it, the shtriga suddenly rose to his feet and grabbed me by the throat before throwing him against the wall.
"Dean!" The two exclaimed before he grabbed Kat and threw her so she hit the wall before landing on the bed under her. The shtriga quickly moved and threw Sam to the ground, falling on top of him and forcing his mouth open. Sam struggled to reach his gun as the shtriga begins drawing his energy and Sam stilled and starts going grey.
"Hey!" I exclaimed.
The shtriga looked up and I shots it between the eyes. He fells backwards and Sam laid there gasping for air.
"You ok little brother?" I asked making him nod and throw a thumbs up on both of his hands. "Kat?"
"I'm good!" She told giving a thumbs up as well.
The three of us pulled ourselves to our feet and looked towards the Shtriga. We saw the energy that he had stolen beginning to escape from its mouth. I raised my gun and shot it three more times at point blank range, making it fall in on itself as it disintegrated. Michael slowly peeked from the side of the bed to see that it was now safe.
"It's ok Michael, you can come on out." I told making him come to stand beside us, and I placed a hand on his shoulder and smiled.
We were packing Baby getting ready to head out when we saw Michaels mum come out of the back of reception.
"Joanna. How's Asher doing?" I asked.
"Have you seen Michael?" She asked us before Michael came running up.
"Mom! Mom!" He exclaimed before she hugged him.
"Hey!"
"How's Ash?" He asked.
"Got some good news. Your brother's going to be fine." She told making the largest grin that his face could form.
"Really?"
"Yeah, really. No one can explain it, it's a miracle. They're going to keep him in overnight for observation and then he's coming home." She explained.
"That's great." I told.
"It truely is." Kat added with a smile.
"How are all the other kids doing?" Sam asked.
"Good. Real good. A bunch of them should be checking out in a few days. Dr Travis says the ward's going to be like a ghost town." She stated.
"Dr Travis? what about Dr Heidacker?" Sam questioned making her shrug.
"Oh he wasn't in today. Must have been sick or something."
"Yeah. Must have." I told before she turned her attention to Michael.
"So, did anything happen while I was gone?" She asked making him glance at me quickly.
"Nah, Same old stuff."
"Ok. You can go see Ash." She told making him get excited.
"Now?"
"Only if you want to." She told making him bolt to the car. "I'd better get going before he hot wires the car and drives himself."
We waved her bye as she left and the three of us turned back to Baby.
"It's too bad." Sam told.
"Oh, they'll be fine." I stated.
"That's not what I meant. I meant Michael. He'll always know there are things out there in the dark, he'll never be the Same, you know?.....Sometimes I wish that..." Sam began only to cut himself off.
"What...?"
"I wish I could have that kinda innocence." He told making us look to see them drive away.
"If it means anything....... sometimes I wish you could too." I admitted.
"I don't." Kat confessed making us look at her.
"You don't?" I asked making her shake her head no.
"If I kept my innocence.... Not only would I not know that I'm psychic, but I wouldn't have met you both." She told with a small smile.
The three of us exchanged a look before I let Kat get in first before I climbed in and started the engine. Sam quickly followed and I pulled out of the motel car park and back onto the freeway to head off to our next destination.
