Adrianna and Daryl met when they were 14, She had just moved to Atlanta with her mom and brother. The school year was just starting and she was a freshman. She mostly ignored people and kept to herself everyone there seemed like an asshole. There was this boy she always noticed he was in alot of her classes and she thought he seemed sweet despite what people would say about him. He was quiet and also kept to himself that's what she liked about him. They were similar. She would sit in the back corner of every class and he would sit close or in the seat next to her. After maybe two weeks they would make eye contact when walking in to sit in their seat and Adrianna would give him a smile which he would sometimes return or he would just look away. Sooner or later Adrianna decided to say somethingHe was seated in the chair next to me and was looking down "Hey" Adrianna said to him
He looked up and met her eyes before looking around to see if she was talking to someone else he looked confused at first until he responded with a quiet hi
"I'm Adrianna." She said to him giving him a small smile as they made eye contact "Daryl."
"It's nice to meet you Daryl." She says to him as he gives her a small smile back "It's nice to meet you too Adrianna."
"You're new right?" Daryl asks her still confused on why she was talking to him especially in a friendly tone. "Yeah I moved here maybe three weeks ago." She say as he nods "Where'd you come from before this?" Daryl asks actually interested in the conversation "I moved from California."
"Big difference between California and Georgia, why'd you move down here?" He asks before he can even process he's doing so. He starts to feel uncomfortable, he never really talks to anyone unless it's Merle or his father yelling at him.
"Just some family problems my mom thought it would be good to start somewhere new like a fresh start or whatever." Adrianna says with a sigh reminiscing on her home life. "What about you have you always lived here?" She asks wanting to take the attention off her now.
opening up to him but I didn't know why, I felt safe."Yeah I stay with my uh dad and brother." He says looking down trying to hide from her the shame on his face. She can tell it's a sensitive topic so she moves on in understanding.
"Do you wanna sit by me at lunch today?" She blurts out face turning red from embarrassment. She has no idea why she just asked that. They don't even know each other she thought. She couldn't put her finger on the feeling but she felt good talking to him it gave her a sense of security. She felt safe.
All while these thoughts were going through her head Daryl had similar questions. Why him? He kept asking just wondering to himself, if she knew about his home life would she still be sitting here talking to him? Would she have ever even looked his direction? He didn't want to ask those questions anymore. He wanted to give this a chance.
Daryl meets Adriannas nervous eyes and nods almost getting out a yes but was cut off.
"Mr Dixon and Ms Torres please stop the talking." everyone attention turned to us before turning back around already forgetting.
"I'll see you at lunch" She says to him with a smile and he nods back "See you."
