I woke up because of my phone ringing and a throbbing headache.
"Hello." I hoarsely said.
"Ri, are you okay? Mom said you didn't call last night." I forgot to call Mom last night because of my conflicted feelings and thoughts. I massaged my temple because it hurts so much.
"Yeah, I forgot to call her. I'll call her-*cough* later." I started coughing and I heard my brother asking if I'm fine.
"Yup, mabigat lang pakiramdam ko. Iinom lang ako ng gamot and papahinga mawawala rin 'to."
"Call me if you need something, is your manager with you? Call her para may kasama ka. Also, kumain ka muna before taking your meds. Do you have medicine in your house?" At naalala ko na wala palang gamot dito sa condo dahil hindi pa ako nakakapag grocery ng maayos.
"I'll call Ate Thea to buy me some medicine. Go back to work, Kuya." I glanced at the clock and it's already 10 am. "Call me Ria if you think you feel worse. Hey Caelum, where are you going?" I was about to say goodbye when I heard him telling Caelum to come back.
"You're with Caelum?" I asked him. "Yes, we're having a meeting but he just left. Hindi man lang sinabi kung saan pupunta. Osya, I'll call again. Don't call mom na, I'll just call her later. Bye sister, love you."
"Love you too Lucas. Work hard but don't forget to rest. Bye." I ended the call and sat still in my bed and closed my eyes cause I can feel the room spinning.
When I felt that the spinning stopped, I stood up with a sigh. Mas lalo akong magkakasakit kung tatamad tamad ako. Tumayo ako para maghilamos at kunin ang thermometer dahil feel ko mainit ako.
38.7 degrees celsius, may lagnat nga ako. Kumuha ako ng bimpo at pinunasan ang katawan ko. Afer ko magpunas ay nagpatong ako ng hoodie sa sando ko dahil giniginaw ako. Balak ko ring bumaba para mag grocery dahil wala na akong makain at para bumili na rin ng gamot.
Bago ako umalis ay napag pasyahan ko na gumawa ng mainit na gatas. Habang hinahalo ko ito ay nag ring ang doorbell. Wala naman akong inaasahan na darating kaya akala ko si Ate Thea lang. Tiningnan ko ang monitor kung saan nakikita ko kung sino ang nasa harao ng pinto ko at nanlaki ang mata ko nung nakita ko na nakatayo si Caelum.
Iniwan niya ang meeting nila ni Kuya para sa akin? Pinindot ko ang option sa screen para kusang bumukas ang pinto kahit hindi ko na buksan.
"Asteria?" Pagtawag nito sakin.
"Nasa kusina." Sagot ko.
I can hear his footsteps and his clothes rustling as he rushed in front of me.
He raised his hand and touched my forehead. I can see him frowning. "You have a fever." I nodded to let him see that I knew. "Did you eat? Did you take your medicine?"
