SC 6. Of Bathtubs and Wrong Sent Messages

"Bebi!"

"Oh?" I glanced at the opened door of our bathroom.

"May donuts pa tayo dito, want some?"

I winced as I try to imagine eating donuts and drinking wine at the same time but since wala na rin naman talaga kaming ibang makakain sa ref namin and we're both too tired (and lazy) to go near a stove and cook ay wala na talaga akong ibang choice.

"Eh, okay?" I shouted. "Bilisan mo na diyan, gusto ko nang i-play 'to."

I can hear his mumbles getting louder and louder which only means na pabalik na siya ulit dito sa loob. He appeared with another bottle in hand while the box of donuts is in the other. I scooted over the end of the tub to give him space.

"Akin na 'yan." I grabbed the bottle and the box from him, making sure na 'di ito mababasa sa tubig as I watched him remove his shorts. And of course, him being Jason, ay 'di niya palalampasin ang pagkakataong tingnan ako with his cocky grin.

"Tinitingin-tingin mo diyan?" He teased.

I rolled my eyes, "As if nasu-surprise pa ako diyan."

He laughed after he was fully naked. "Salamat sa confidence boost ha." Saad nito bago tuluyang pumwesto sa likuran ko. I shrieked when he immediately pulled me closer to him.

"Careful! 'Yung pagkain." I giggled.

He only laughed as he stole the bottle from me, opened it, and refilled our glasses that was on the corner of the tub. Nilapag ko iyong box sa dulo matapos kong kumuha ng isa at agad na pinindot ang space bar ng laptop kong nakapatong sa ibabaw ng bathtub board.

Today's our day off. It's kinda not like our usual days off at work because for the first time since last month ay nagkasabay na naman kami. Kahit na madalas na dito kami parehong umuuwi sa condo, madalang lang kaming nagkakatagpo ni Jas. Most of the time, it's either tulog na ang isa when the other gets home, or papasok palang sa trabaho ang isa while the other was already at work. It's really hard balancing our time for each otherwhen we both know that work is our top-most priority, but I guess this is one of the pros of dating a co-doctor, because you know that both of you are on the same page.

That is why we spend days like these lazily. Palagi kaming nagmamadali on our usual days, we are always on the go... Alert... Constantly thinking; that sometimes we only want to take things slow... Even if it means eating unhealthy foods, soaking in the bath for hours, and watching old hollywood movies.

Don't get me wrong, mahal na mahal namin ni Jas ang trabaho namin. We sacrificed a lot just to be where we are right now... But sometimes, it's also nice to enjoy even the smallest amount of days of leisure for ourselves.

I was just enjoying my donut while leaning on his chest. I'm kinda concentrating on the movie because it hurts my pride na mas malawak ang knowledge ni Jas sa old hollywood in comparison to mine. Kanina nga habang pumipili kami ng mapapanood and he suggested Sunset Boulevard because he kinda missed watching it, ay hindi niya pinalampas ang cluelessness ko. Agad niya itong nahalata even though I was acting like I knew what he was talking about.

"You've never watched Sunset Boulevard 'no?"

"What—"

"Hmm?"

"In my defense—"

"Si Junipher Jimenez? Hindi pa napapanood ang 1950s classic—"

"I was just a kid when Kuya Landon was in his black and white film phase, malamang 'di pa ako interesado nun—"
