Veronica
I parked my car with the kind of effortless precision that only comes from someone who is used to being in control. I stepped out of the vehicle, feeling the cool morning breeze of the university hitting my skin.
Unfortunately, I wasn't with Eunice right now. Her so-called best friend, the ever-reliable and slightly annoying companion, picked her up early. Ang rason? May kailangan daw silang tapusing activity. Psh. As if I couldn't help her with any academic requirements she had. It’s annoying how that guy always finds a way to be around her when I’m not.
Just as I was about to lock my car, the sleek black sedan in the next slot hissed to a stop. Out came my bitch of a twin sister, Veymie, and her lover, Elijah. The atmosphere shifted instantly. They radiated an aura of chaos that only they could produce.
"Whoa, look who’s early for duty. Hello, Professor Veronica," Elijah greeted, flashing me that signature teasing smirk that usually gets on my nerves.
I leaned against my car, crossing my arms over my chest. I couldn't help but let out a small, mocking grin. "You’re late na, Elijah. Or maybe you just enjoyed the trip too much?"
Veymie was leaning against her car door, looking impeccable in her professional attire, but she let out a sharp, irritated huff when she caught my gaze. She looked like she wanted to be anywhere else but here, facing me.
"Una na ako—" aalis na sana si Elijah nang mabilis ko itong pinigilan. I stepped forward, blocking her path with a deliberate grace.
"Hold on a second," I chuckled, scanning her face."Aalis ka nang hindi mo man lang inaayos ang mukha mo?" natatawang tanong ko sa kaniya. My eyes were fixed on the mess she was sporting.
Taka naman itong napatingin sa akin. She blinked, looking lost for a second before turning her gaze to Veymie, who just shrugged with a suppressed laugh, seemingly uninterested in helping her girlfriend out.
"Bakit ba? Is there something wrong with my face? Aside from the fact that I’m exceptionally gorgeous?" she asked, her arrogance still peaking despite the situation.
I rolled my eyes, and let out a dry laugh at her sheer arrogance. I pointed towards the tinted window of Veymie’s car. "Take a good look, Narcissus. You might want to reconsider that beautiful comment."
She grumbled something under her breath. The moment her eyes met her reflection, her jaw dropped. Her eyes widened in pure, unadulterated horror.
Veymie and I burst into synchronized laughter. It was a sight to behold. Nagkalat ang lipstick sa buong baba niya, as if they had a wild encounter in the middle of a forest. And the worst part? There was a distinct, suspicious white smudge at the corner of her lips. You know exactly what it was.
"Veymie! Pambihira naman eh! Bakit hindi mo sinabi?!" inis na sigaw ni Elijah habang pilit na kinukuskos ang mukha niya.
Veymie just winked at her, looking completely unbothered. Elijah looked like a frustrated child, literally stomping her feet in the middle of the parking lot before frantically digging through her designer bag for some wet wipes.
"So..." I leaned against my car, crossing my arms. "Saan niyo na naman ginawa ang love making niyo? It looks like you both survived a crime scene," nakangising tanong ko. I was enjoying her misery a bit too much.
Elijah let out an annoyed groan while wiping her face aggressively.
"My car. Ten minutes ago," walang pag-aalinlangang sagot ni Veymie. She said it with such casualness that it almost made me admire her lack of shame.
