"ZhanZhan..." [Y/N] whispered softly, peeking through the door and into the dark and still room. His cheeks had little tear streaks and his eyes were red rimmed. "A-are.. are you awake...?"
There was a shuffling before [Y/N] saw a small figure sit up in the bed.
"ZhanZhan..?"
"[Y/N]..."
"I-I'm sorry... for waking you.." [Y/N] whispered. "I-I'll leave-"
"Come."
[Y/N] blinked and squinted, seeing Lan Zhan pant the empty spot next to him in his bed. He bit his lip before slowly creeping into the room, closing the door behind him. He climbed into the warm bed and Lan Zhan gently tucked him in before laying back down.
They laid in silence before [Y/N] couldn't take it anymore. Lan Zhan was always such a good listener.
"Lan Zhan.. I'm sorry for waking you... b-but..." his voice lowered even more. "I-I had a nightmare... about... about my parents... an-and..." his voice broke as more tears started to fall.
Lan Zhan pulled him close to him and hugged him gentle yet tight. "Shh..." He hummed softly and whispered comforting words that didn't mean anything.
They stayed like that for the rest of the night, falling asleep quickly, wrapped up in each others arms - hugging like they're lives depended on it.
Thats how Xichen found them the next morning. He smiled softly and gently stepped out of the room, closing the door as quietly as he could. He decided to let them sleep. They were so peaceful looking and Xichen simply couldn't bring himself to disturb them. This might as well be the first time the two got a good nights sleep since... well since [Y/N]'s parents died and... their mother past...
Once he was farther enough away he let out the squeal and all the coos he had been holding in. They were so cute!
