"Awww! Wei Wuxian and Wen Qing look so cute dancing together!" [Y/N] snickered quietly into her palm. "Aren't they just the cutest, eh Wen Ning?"
Wen Ning sighed. "[Y/N]... Jie looks like she's already planning to commit Wei-Gongzi's murder..."
"Okay but murder aside, they are so cute!"
"...Wei-Gongzi looks like he's going to have a nervous breakdown."
"I mean anyone being that close to Wen Qing would be a second away from a nervous breakdown!" [Y/N] said, a little too cheerful. She sighed. "But... I guess you're right... They aren't that cute together... Plus I'm pretty sure Wen Qing likes girls."
Wen Ning had that same feeling. Ever since they had been young, he could not name one instance where his sister had shown any interest in boys or even had gotten a crush.
All around them, the Wen remnants sat smiling and laughing. They had lit a big fire in the center of their little circle and others were dancing around it; spinning in circles and occasionally switching partners. Though it was mostly just old couples or younger women dancing with friends.
Wen Yuan had been dancing early in the night but after multiple dances with everyone and Wei Wuxian, his energy had quickly died down. He now sat curled up in granny Wen's lap. She was talking quietly to another older woman.
Wei Wuxian had somehow managed to convince Wen Qing to dance with him. But while they were dancing and spinning around, Wen Qing looked like she was actively planning Wei Wuxian's murder.
[Y/N] stood abruptly. Wen Ning's attention snapped right back to her.
Even in just plain red and white robes, she looked stunning. They were a little too big for her, hand-me down's from an older girl (they were having to use fabric and old clothes sparingly because of the lack of money). There was a smudge of mud (or maybe it was ash) on her sunken cheek. Wen Ning didn't care. She still looked beautiful in his eyes.
"Lets dance!"
"Huh-" Wen Ning didn't even get a word of protest before she was pulling him up to his feet in a fit of surprising strength.
[Y/N] lead him into the small crowd of dancers and starting spinning them around.
"[Y/N]-" He stuttered. "I don't- I don't really know how to dance-"
When he was alive, he didn't know how to dance very well; he was very clumsy. Now undead, he was objectively worse. He was much too stiff and some of his joints didn't move as nicely as before.
