Slow dancing in the kitchen while failing at baking cookies
"[Y/N]... what's burning?"
[Y/N] leaned against the counter, trying to hide the smoking oven. "The only thing that's burning is my desire for you." She winked horribly and Xichen frowned.
"Um... The oven is on fire?"
"That too....I guess..." She rolled her eyes. [Y/N] turned around before her eyes widened when she saw that it had gone from smoking and slightly burning to heavily smoking and very much going to burn the house down soon. "AHHHHHHHH!"
"[Y/N]?!" Xichen snapped out of whatever daze he was in and rushed over to help her put out the fire.
Eventually they managed to put out the flames and [Y/N] sat crying in the corner as her failed attempt was dumped into the trash.
"My childdddd...." She quietly called.
"[Y/N]... My love... My darling, the light of my life. What in Yan Wang's name were you trying to make?!"
[Y/N] wiped away her crocodile tears. "I was trying to make you cookies... And a cake..."
"Why both?"
"Well... um..." [Y/N] laughed nervously. "I actually burnt the cake... And well I've never made a cake before right? But I've made cookies so I thought 'Hey lets make cookies' but then I got distracted by our lovely cat child, Bao, and next thing I know your home and the cookies are burning-"
"[Y/N], breathe." Lan Xichen gently placed his warm hands on her shoulders.
She gasped, taking in the much needed air. "...I'm sorry..."
"Its alright," Xichen reassured. He chuckled. "Its a nice break from my usual 9-5."
[Y/N] smiled a small smile. "Your not mad?"
"Of course not. I could never be mad." He pulled her into a hug. "Why'd you think I be mad?"
"Um... maybe because I almost burned down our house?"
"Almost, dear. Almost."
"I love you..."
"I love you too."
"Happy birthday."
Xichen laughed and kissed her temple, nose, and cheeks before finally pecking her lips. "Thank you lovely."

▶ I baked some cookies earlier which inspired this lol (I made the dough balls too big so it really just ended up being a big cookie sheet :/)

▶ In Chinese mythology, Yan Wang (閻王) is the King of Hell. Yan Wang oversees the underworld, presides over the ten layers of Diyu (地獄), or the Chinese-Buddhist Hell, and judges the fate of the dead. He is one of the most feared gods in the belief system. (I really wanted to say nine circles of hell but I had read about Diyu in a mdzs fanfiction before and really wanted to incorporate it)
