[Y/N] smiled as they and Wen Ning both bowed to each other before Wen Ning took their hand in his and pulled them close to him, smiling shyly.
"Care to dance?"
"We both suck, but sure."
Wen Ning's sweat dropped. "I-I've been taking lessons!"
"With Wei Wuxian? That man has two left feet!"
Wen Ning shied away, cheeks rosy. "T-that's..."
"True?" [Y/N] raised an eyebrow. They grinned and spun Wen Ning around making the man dizzy.
"I-I was going to... say convincing..." Wen Ning gulped, head spinning from both the spinning and because [Y/N] is so close to him.
[Y/N] and Wen Ning waltzed around the room. They were anything but elegant, stepping on each other's feet and tripping over each other, but they were enjoying every second of it. Laughing so hard they could barely stand right and their stomachs hurt.
[Y/N] tried to dip Wen Ning but that only resulted in both of them falling over, [Y/N] landing on top of Wen Ning.
Their face warmed and tried to get off but Wen Ning wrapped his arms around them, pulling them close. He held [Y/N] tight but not tight enough that they couldn't escape. In fact, they could get up whenever but they chose to stay where they were.
They relaxed against Wen Ning, closing their eyes and listening to his steady heartbeat.
"I know I'm a little late since we're already had a party and Wei Wuxian almost killed us with that horrid thing he called a cake but-" They sat up, smiling. "Happy birthday."
Wen Ning smiled, gaining some confidence. He leaned forward and kissed [Y/N].
[Y/N] blinked rapidly in response before kissing back.
"I don't... I don't care how late it is, as... as long as I can spend the rest of my life with you."
[Y/N] brightened. "You don't even need to ask!"
