Birds chirping from all around you had Eddie slowly coming to, again.
His eyes shot open when he realised he had fallen asleep when he should've been the look out for the night. He goes to sit up but something hefty and warm against his body stopped him. Looking down, he sees you; sleeping.
Your arm rests across his chest, fingers clinging onto the thin fabric of his hellfire shirt and your leg was entangled with his own. You had burrowed your other arm and your entire torso into his, probably an attempt to seek warmth for the night.
Eddie knows he shouldn't indulge in it, he knows that he shouldn't have even let it happen in the first place but he can't help himself. Rather, he rests his head back in the bed of leafs again. Only difference is, he had the most giddy smile spreading across his face now as he allows his arm to cup around you, treasuring the moment.
After a few minutes passed, Eddie flicks his wrist up to look at the time but that's when reality hit.
His watch wasn't working, all thanks to last night.
Eddies giddy smile was quickly extinguished.
"Ssshit." He sighs, before facing the fact of the matter; which was that he and now probably you, if Jason hadn't the decency to leave you out of it, which is arguable as it is, were wanted throughout the town of Hawkins and if it wasn't too much of a stretch, probably even outside of town, too.
Eddie looks down at you one last time, a small smile flickering across his face again but not for long. He places his hand over yours, sliding it slowly and carefully down his side until it was only your leg now that held him.
"This is gonna be mission impossible." He mutters to himself as his hands hesitate to grab your leg, "God, please forgive me."
Eddie forces his fingers between your thigh and his leg, while his other hand helps to lift it until there was enough of a gap for him to take his own leg back. "Phew."
He starts to stand but he gazes at you, again.
It was a miracle to him that you were still sleeping soundly because in his eyes, and basically every body else's, he was the loudest, most boisterous human being to ever grace earth. So, to be fair, he was quite proud of himself; but that wasn't exactly why he found his eyes glancing at you so often.
He decides to really test his luck now, bringing his hand up to your cheek and delicately brushing your hair out of your face, taking in the softness of your skin as he did.
"I'll be back." He whispers, as if you could hear.
Eddie doesn't wonder off too far, with the fear that somebody might come across you as you slept. So, he follows a subtle dirt path that leads and swerves between trees, as if it led to somewhere in town or possibly a popular make out spot? Either way, he went forward but as he neared the end, clunking and crashing could be heard on the other side.
"What the hell could that be all the way out here?"
Eddie cautiously makes his way towards the sound to see men in hard hats rushing around like little ants as he peered from afar.
"A construction site?...Just my luck..." He huffs sarcastically, until he sees almost every builder on the site carrying walkies in their utility belts.
The same walkies as Dustins.
As if there wasn't a more perfect time, one builder rips his belt off, throwing it on a table covered in saw dust and tools.
"I'm taking five!" The worker shouts.
"You just took five!"
"Well, tell jerry to take it easy on the onions next time!"
Eddie is taken aback at first by the strangers statement but proceeds forward, staying low but speeding his way to the table where the belt was,
eyes locked on with the walkie strapped inside and with a mischievous lick of his lips, Eddie takes it and runs.
Eddie walks back to skull rock, faster now as he adjusts the walkies station, skipping over many in use until finally finding the one that Dustins was tuned into.
"Dustin?! Hello, hello? Anybody copy?"
Bzztt!
"Eddie?! Oh my god, are you okay?!"
Eddie throws himself, back first against the massive rock as he huffs, dejectedly. Dustins question only made Eddie realise that no, he was anything but okay.
"Uhh, nah man...pretty damn far from okay." He says as he stares at your sleeping body. So peaceful and so unaware.
Bzztt!
"Where are you? We'll come to you."
"Skull rock, heard of it?"
Bzzt!!
"Yeah, on our way. You just stay right there! Okay? People are really out for you now...Y/N, too..."
Eddie says nothing back to Dustin.
He only drops the walkie on the ground with a thud, running both his hands over his face.
"I should've known better than to involve you in all my mess..." He mumbles, tossing a small rock out of frustration.
"...Hmm...?"
