Episode 23: Healing
"Issa looks really happy," si Kuya JM.
Nasa veranda kami ngayon ng bahay, near our pool area. Right, almost everyone decided for a night swimming party all of a sudden. Si Ate Mia, Ate Maggie, Ate Debbie, and well, si Issa. Si Nanay, for now, she's cooking something, pulutan daw. Si Tatay naman, ayun, sinamahan ni Kuys Eero na bumili ng mga inumin. Yeah, it's a new level of party just for Issa from my family. All out, e.
"She is! She enjoys the company of everyone in the family! Isa pa, she was not expecting she'll pass the exam but she did kaya sobrang na-ooverwhelm 'yan. Mediyo nag-aalala ako baka sumobra pero her day isn't over until the sun rise up for tomorrow sabi niya kaya hahayaan ko na lang," sabi ko.
Issa is really stubborn and stopping her now will only cause a war kaya h'wag na lang! Isa pa, I miss hanging out with everyone in the family kaya susulitin ko na rin ang pagkakataong ito. It's a pity Kuys EL isn't here though but he said he's coming home for our annual 'before-classes-starts' vacation kaya alam kong babawi 'yon.
"Pretty much like Mia then!" anito, "Babs! Stop playing too much, puwede?" paalala niya kay Ate Mia kasi naglalaro sila ngayon sa pool. Syempre, hindi pa rin puwede si Ate Mia na magpasobra sa kung ano mang ginagawa niya. She's still sick. Not as dangerous like before pero extra pa rin kung mag-alaga si Kuya. Ito pa ba?
"I think so pero mukhang mas malala naman si Issa, Kuys!" natatawang sabi ko kasi mukhang totoo naman. In my own observation, of course.
Nakita kong bahagya siyang napangiti. "I'm relieved seeing you more comfortable and more at ease looking especially whenever you're with her now, Emeril. I bet Issa's a big part of the reason why, major pa nga ata!" natawa ito, "That's good to know,"
Napatingin siya sa akin sabay inom niya ng smirnoff na hawak. Mayroong alcohol content pero light lang naman. Ito na muna ang iinumin ni Kuys JM dahil sa may trabaho pa raw siya bukas. Okay na rin sa akin ng ganitong inumin dahil gusto ko rin bumalik ng condo bukas ng umaga! I'm still not done with my review and I only have a few more days left before school starts kaya ayaw kong magsayang ng oras! Isa pa, the upcoming weekend is family day kaya I need to finish off by then.
Ganoon talaga, studying is something I am really fond of and I bet Kuys JM knows the feeling too well.
"Yeah, I think so. She's been teaching me stuffs about reality in her own perspective and I believe I am to her too kaya give and take ang nangyayari! I like it so far! Nasasanay na rin ako sa presensya niya sa buhay ko. Ewan," sabi ko at agad akong napainom ng Smirnoff na hawak.
Kind a felt weird for a second. I just realized na unang beses ko pa ata nakakausap ang Kuya kong ito patungkol sa mga ganitong bagay. I usually talk about school and study matters with him. Hindi ko inakalang aabot din kami ni Kuya sa ganitong sandali, like, talk about matters of the heart.
"Good to know that! I'm honestly wishing you both well kahit hindi masyadong halata! Both of you might have a lot of differences from each other but who knows? It could be your partnership's greatest strength! Tingnan mo kami ng Ate Mia mo as best examples! We're both like humans from different planet—very different in so many ways! Marami akong ayaw sa ugali ni Mia and I know, Mia feels the same way! Yet, we managed to embrace the differences and learned to compromise each other... look at us now! Napapaisip ako minsan kung bakit si Mia lalo na sa mga pagkakataong ang kulit-kulit but then again, she was everything that I needed to complete myself. It's going to be impossible living in this world without an us, idagdag mo pa si EJ!" natawa ito.
