4. Leaving France

Reader's POV

I crushed the manager's foot under mine as he tried to push the emergency distress button under his desk.

"AHHH!" was all he managed to get out before I slapped his mouth shut.

"I need to leave, give me your car," I ordered.

"No," he muttered.

"Did I ask? Give me the keys or I'll rip your throat open."

"You can't escape. The cops have blocked the way, you can't leave anyway."

I chuckled, "That's for me to worry about, WHERE ARE YOU CAR KEYS?!"

"In my desk drawer," he told me. I opened it and saw the keys to a PGO car, the key to his personal parking and a gun. I took both of the things and knocked the manager out with the handle of the gun. Once he was knocked out, I looked for other things in the room that might be useful to me but found nothing at all. I sighed and got back to the window, jumping out. I hoped that his personal parking lot would be next to the staff parking lot.

Once I got down to the parking lot, I opened his personal parking lot, his car and drove out. I drove out of the museum doors. Unfortunately, what the manager said was correct, all the roads were blocked and other people were stuck inside as well. Not exactly stuck as the cops wanted to empty the area so they decided to check everyone's car to see that there wasn't any sign of me or the diamond.

I didn't have any option but to rely on bribery. I had a lot of alexandrite in my bag, I just have to look for a cop that looks like he accepts bribes, not that I can see anything clearly from here. I drove forward a bit, they had blocked the road crossing and several other roads. I drove forward a bit more, enough to see what was going on. Apparently, this guy on the left let a drunk guy leave without a ticket with a bribe. I wondered if I could do the same. I know the difference between the world's most infamous diamond thief and a random drunk dude but I have no other option but to try.

I pulled out all the alexandrite, solitaire, diamonds, rubies and sapphires I had in my bag in one hand, pulled out the Pink Star Diamond and hid it in my medium-length hair. I drove and got in the line of the cars who were going to be checked by that guy. I waited in line, driving ahead slowly and when it was my turn, I stopped my car right next to him and lowered the car window. He was shocked upon seeing me but quickly got back to his senses. He was about to grab his gun before I extended my hand containing all of the gemstones I had at the moment except the Pink Star Diamond. These were all ordinary gemstones found in ordinary jeweler shops so I could give them away without a problem. His eyes widened and mouth slightly opened upon seeing me offer him so many gemstones.

"Let me go and it's all yours," I told him, eyeing my gemstones. This was going to be a huge transaction but what option did I have?

"Where's the Pink Star Diamond?" He asked, clearly wanting it as a bribe.

"I dropped it in the water when I jumped off the bridge," I lied, saddening my voice to make it more believable.

"You lost the Pink Star Diamond?!" He asked, clearly shocked.

"Unfortunately, yes. This is all I have right now. I lost the Pink Star Diamond and I'm just trying to leave now. But you know, at least you know where the Pink Star Diamond is. Make use of that information somehow and let me go."

"Tsk, fine," he said as he grabbed the gemstones from my hand, not even bothering to check my car for the Pink Star Diamond in case I was lying. Well, it's better for me that way, I thought as I drove off, removing the Pink Star Diamond from my hair and back into the bag. An hour later, I arrived at my hotel. I parked the car at the parking lot and took the manager's coat kept in his car to cover me. After all, I was still a little wet and had blood on me. I somehow made it to my hotel room without being stopped by security. I only got strange looks from the other people in the lobby, and elevator. I checked the time on my phone which I had forgotten in my hotel room, 3 and a half hours until my flight leaves and I have to check in before.

I took off the coat and put my bag onto my bed and looked at myself in the mirror and suddenly wished that I hadn't. I looked like a complete mess not that I looked good other times but I just looked exceptionally bad right then. Cuts on my face and my hands, wounds on my knees and elbows, and blood coming out, besides my hair was a mess and I was still wet.

I decided to take a quick shower, after that, I quickly bandaged my wounds and got ready, with a fake skin mask on my face and fake passports in my luggage bag. I was set to leave. I left in the manager's car, arrived at the airport, got yelled at by an attendant for being late and managed to board the flight and somehow got the window seat. On the flight I remembered that I had forgotten to grab the hotel shampoo and conditioner bottle. Oh well, whatever.

Exhausted by what had happened today, I decided to get some sleep. If the cops chased me over here, it's not like I would jump off the airplane. Over here, if they caught me, they caught me.

Spongebob Voice : 12 hours later

When I got to my mansion near the shore, I realized that I was even more tired than I was on the flight. The jet lag didn't affect me that much anymore but all the chaos did tire me out. I left my small bag of clothes on the floor and sat on my couch, The Pink Star Diamond now in my hand. It was beautiful, photos didn't do justice to the diamond.

I took it to the cleaning room to properly wipe the diamond and examine it and after that, I took it to the photo room and got its perfect photo to post on my Instagram. My Instagram account had photos of each and every precious diamond or gemstone that I had stolen so far, after all, if I'm putting all this effort in stealing the diamonds, I should show them off. There, I posted the photo with a good headline and as soon as I hit post, I saw people immediately leaving likes and comments.

Then, I went to my basement where I kept all the diamonds and gemstones and neatly put it in a case there among the others. After that, I didn't even bother to change before I went to my room and fell asleep.
