Levi's POV

I was in my room when I woke up. I must've fallen asleep while working and one of my friends must've brought me here. I sighed, sitting up and rubbing my eyes. What time was it? I looked for my phone, it was on my bedside table. I picked it up to check the time but instead, found an Instagram notification, it was our target, she had posted something. I had followed her account on Instagram to stay up to date with any news regarding her.

I opened it and the post was the photo of the Pink Star Diamond, the diamond that she had successfully stolen. The post had more than 500k likes and it had been posted like 2 hours ago. The criminal was an Instagram celebrity, what's more, Instagram didn't block her account because she was a wanted criminal, they only looked for their profit.

I sighed and put my phone down without checking the time, it didn't matter anyway, the amount of sunlight told me that it was sometime in the afternoon. I don't think that Erwin would mind if I'm late today, not that I'm not late already. I hope that 'A' leaks some more information for us, we're getting nowhere otherwise.

I decided to clean up first, I took off my clothes and stepped into the shower and turned it to hot water. I was able to think much more clearly after getting some sleep and relaxing like this. Our target is an amazing hacker, it is highly unlikely that 'A' was able to hack into our target's information like our target planned it. I think that 'A' might be someone acquainted with our target, someone our target told her plan to. 'A' might've chosen to betray our target and given the information to us. It's one of these options.

I turned off the shower and stepped out, picking up the towel to dry myself as I continued to think. Our target is extremely risk taking and that makes the job much harder. She jumped in the lake, crashed cars and who knows how she got out when we barricaded the roads. I stepped in my room, picking out my clothes to wear for today and putting them on.

The shittiest part of this is that our target is out of the country, she is in the U.S., way out of my jurisdiction and who knows when she's going to come back to France. My only way of catching her is to get a permit to capture her in the U.S.. I'll go to work and look at any new information that has been retrieved, if there's no other way, I'll ask Erwin to apply for it.

After putting on my clothes, I brushed my hair a little, took my coat, phone, wallet and car keys, put on my shoes and left my apartment, not bothering to eat breakfast. I walked to the elevator and got in. During the wait, I decided to get some work done so I called up Erwin.

"Commander of the French Police Department, Erwin Smith speaking," I heard as Erwin picked up the phone after one ring. He didn't know it was me as I called him on his office telephone as he tends to forget his personal phone at his place.

"It's me," I said into the phone simply as I got off the elevator and headed toward the parking lot.

"Oh, Levi. How are you feeling? If a workaholic like you fell asleep like that then you must be really tired."

"I guess," I replied, annoyed, "Did anyone find any more information?"

"Unfortunately not. I asked Hange to examine the polish on the fake diamond but she reported that it lost its effect and evaporated shortly after. Just like in our records, the polish is designed to get rid of itself quite quickly so we can't get any samples and we can't put some sort of repellent or detector to figure it out without any more information."

"How does our target store the polish then?"

"The polish only evaporates a few minutes after being exposed to air. Our target must make sure to not have it come in contact with air."

"I see," I said simply, as I got into my car and drove to work, connecting my phone with the car bluetooth so I could still talk.

"Also, did you see our target's Instagram post?"

"I did," I clenched my jaw out of anger.

"Our target is already back to her place with the diamond. Her flight ticket was investigated and it seems that she landed at the LAX international airport in Los Angeles. I don't think it makes a difference but we still shouldn't leave crucial details."

"Right."

"Levi," he said calmly, "Don't be upset. Being upset isn't going to help us at all."

"I know."

After a few moments of silence I spoke up again.

"Anything else?" I asked.

"There is," he said and I got a little hopeful, "I can't tell you over the phone. You'll know when you get here. Ask Furlan, as your second in command, he is currently assessing the information to find out more."

"Got it," I told him as I hung up the phone.

More information, something that he can't tell me over the phone. What is it? Did 'A' give us more information? Did we find out something about our target's whereabouts? Is it a flaw in our target's stealing style or a weakness perhaps? Or maybe her background that was completely erased from records? I was really curious, I wanted to catch our target as soon as possible and some info would be really nice right now.

I parked my car in the police department parking lot, got out and headed toward the building. I got into the elevator and pressed the button for the second highest floor in the building where the Special Operations Squad worked. As soon as the elevator door opened, I rushed towards Furlan's small office, my impatience only growing.

I entered without knocking as I always did with my friend's offices. I saw Furlan wearing glasses, deeply engrossed in what was on his computer screen which was unusual. His posture told me that he was working and that surprised me because he never took work seriously. The only reason that he had this high-ranking job was because he was good at his job when he actually tried to do it.

I shut the door and stepped towards him, figuring out that he hadn't noticed me yet. He was too busy with whatever he was doing and that had never happened before. I guessed that he was either playing a game, watching a movie while pretending to work or he had just gone insane. As much as I would love it if he got some work done, I hoped it wasn't the latter as it would be hard to get used to him.

"Furlan," I called, which caused him to jump out of his skin.

"Whoa," He breathed, "You scared me."

"What are you doing?"

"Oh, I'm looking at the new information we got and I'm trying to link a source. The Commander told me to give you the information so c'mere."

I stepped towards him and put my hand on his forehead as if I was checking for a fever, feigning disbelief, "You're working," I whispered.

"Very funny," he told me, "Now, do you want the information or not?"

"What is it?"

"We got new information from 'A'!"

"Huh?"

A/N = Sorry about the late chapter.
