Narrator's POV

"I'll fucking kill that bastard," The blond boy yelled, trying to slip out of his redhead friend's grasp but was unsuccessful because his friend was just too much stronger than him. He questioned how his friend could restrain both him and his brunette friend at the same time when they were both full of rage, wanting to tear apart the guy that hurt their sister that life didn't give them by blood.

Sobbing could be heard over the heavy rain as the girl's birth brother hugged her tightly and tried to calm her down and make her feel better and talk which she clearly couldn't do in between her crying, sobbing and hiccuping while also shaking in the fear of the boy that her brothers wanted to kill.

"Shh. It's okay," The girl's birth brother tried to calm her down again but was clearly unsuccessful because she was not just scared, she was scared out of her mind and her fear had depths he could not even imagine.

"Let me go!" The brunette boy was furious and was ready to punch his best friend if needed to be able to get to the one he wanted to destroy, "Why are you stopping me?! Let me go!"

"This is not the time!" The redhead held his friends back, "I know what you want to do but not now! We can't leave her here like this!"

The blond boy relaxed a bit in his friend's grasp however the brunette didn't relent as he struggled, his mind full of rage and unable to see reason; unable to see the fact that they needed to be somewhere else first and that was right there, calming down their mutual friend's little sister that they treated as their own.

Eventually, the blond boy gave up struggling because of his exhaustion while the redhead struggled to keep the brunette in place who had sworn to destroy the monster that had destroyed his sister's sense of security, with his own two hands. He wanted to completely make him feel the same fear his sister felt and have the same aftereffects his sister would be having after then that would never leave for her entire life.

In the end, the girl stopped crying. But not because her brother, the other blond boy with eyes the same as the ocean and a certain diamond that was named after it, was able to shush her and make her feel better. She only stopped because she had used up all her energy and had passed out.

The blond boy picked her up in the woolen shawl he had wrapped her in to provide her warmth as the other blond boy who was sitting on the muddy asphalt road looked up at the sky, his eyes full of despair now that all the anger had subsided as he mulled over the fact that he wasn't able to protect his sister.

He finally understood why she was changing and was switching up her habits. Her wearing as much clothes as possible, even in front of family was a sign of fear and insecurity and a way to hide bruises. Her silence on topics that she would usually be babbling about signalled that her mind was somewhere else and she was slowly losing her interests and losing herself. It showed that the reason why she always wore a mask to cover her face even though she said it was to just protect her from potential germs was a way of hiding herself, from the world and the one who tormented her.

Now it all made sense, her loss of appetite, suddenly being closed up in her room all the time, freezing up at moments, the knife in her room that she said was cutting off tape if she needed to do that while opening packages, the whole pack of bandages with empty wrappers sprawled out that he found in one of her drawers while looking to steal chocolate and her despising school despite the fact that she loved it when she was little and was always acing everything.

"We have to get her home," Armin announced to his friends as they all looked at him, none pausing their activities of either struggling, restraining or sitting in pure despair before the brunette did stop struggling and the redhead accepted it as a sign that he wouldn't try to run again and eased up on him, after all, they had known each other since they were kids.
