Reader's POV

The last thing I said before leaving for the interrogation was to Levi, whom I asked to not wait up for me and he rolled his eyes at me which told me that he wanted to say that he wasn't going to anyway.

I knew he wasn't going to. I mean, who in their right mind would? And I didn't mind it either, I was just trying to distract myself from the fear of the interrogation.

I knew I wasn't going to die because the people who were trying to get the location of the diamonds and my true identity that they never found on any record out of me were trained professionals and since they weren't supposed to, they wouldn't kill me.

I had redacted all of my details including the proof that I was born, went to school and what not from every file in the world, physical or digital. I did that so that if they ever caught me, they couldn't trace me back to my family because if they did, then that would be an insult to my late family, put suspicion on my friends and my background would give them a hint at what technology I had access to and they would be able to find my location right away and I couldn't let that happen.

The interrogations happened to try to get the answers of their questions out of me and I had gone through this numerous times and kept my quiet. But being confident in myself didn't take away the fear of the pain.

I remember the first time I was caught, I had gotten interrogated three times in one stay because that stay was so long when I couldn't find a way out. It wasn't until Kenny basically adopted me that I could start somewhere.

But as usual, this interrogation was harsh and like it always was, it was harsher than last time but still, I didn't speak. Once they figured that even with all the special professional tools, they couldn't torture me without permanently damaging some part of me, they let me go and asked a guard to escort me back.

The guard, thankfully, was kind, which was uncommon in that place because it was a prison. The guard didn't push me to force me to walk like all the other times when I walked slowly because my legs threatened to give out under me causing me to tumble a few times, instead, he was patient and held me up when I almost fell.

The guard opened the cell door as I walked in and turned around to look at him as he closed the cell door once again and I caught sight of a familiar face. One that was similar to one that I saw routinely but before I could think about it further, he locked the door and walked away and my next move was to fall into my bed because my legs were killing me.

But as I turned around, something caught my eye and that was a set of two very beautiful eyes that if I had the choice to, I would stare into for eternity but my careful mind brought me back to reality and indicated me of the obvious that I was ignoring and that was Levi's watchful gaze on me.

Doesn't this guy sleep?

Like, at all?

I thought that he was kidding when he said that he didn't sleep at all earlier today.

Or maybe yesterday, I don't know the time. It could've struck twelve already.

I flinched and hurried away to my lower bunk as I let myself fall in it, face down and regretted it immediately when everything on the front part of my body that had been injured, stung deeply causing me to groan and turn the other side which was a big mistake as well because the injuries on the rear side of my body complained deeply. I muffled my painful whimpers as I laid on my side, ignoring the pain of the few injuries they were able to land there as I heard something unexpected.

"You okay, brat?"

"Huh?" My mouth replied almost instantly without thinking, "Yeah. W-Why?"

"Nothing. Go to sleep," Levi's voice wasn't gentle any longer as he ordered me to sleep.
